Eat better
When it comes to your diet, eating healthier can be a game-changer. Add nutrient-rich foods like whole grains, vegetables, fruits, fish and lean meats. These foods are high in fiber and protein that can keep you fuller for longer periods of time. And as an added bonus, they’re also full of flavor! Drink more water: Drinking enough water is crucial for long-term health; dehydration wreaks havoc on your body.

Sleep more
In one study, healthy men who slept six hours a night for two weeks reported increased levels of ghrelin — a hunger-promoting hormone. So while you don't need 8 hours of shut-eye each night (that's called lazy), getting at least 6 is essential for good health. Sleep is also essential for weight loss, so hit that snooze button! And not just because your body needs rest; when you are asleep, your body produces growth hormone. Growth hormone makes your muscles bigger and stronger, which helps keep your metabolism working optimally. What’s more, sound sleep leads to better control over blood sugar levels. When you sleep well, your body releases insulin more efficiently throughout the day, leading to less fat storage.

Exercise
The Basics: Exercise is good for your health, but not everybody wants to go out running or playing sports. Besides traditional exercises like running, swimming, and biking, there are plenty of other ways you can get active. Some can be as simple as getting out of your seat at work or going for a walk around your neighborhood. For more inspiration, check out our guide to 49 Fun Ways To Exercise . If you want even more ideas, try searching YouTube for exercise videos. Chances are that no matter what type of activity floats your boat, somebody’s put together a tutorial video about it. Here’s one on how to salsa dance!

Manage Stress
When we’re stressed, our body releases chemicals called cortisol. Cortisol actually causes more harm than good: it makes your stomach digest food slower, which means you eat too much; it also increases your blood pressure, disrupts your immune system and produces extra fat in your abdomen. Find ways to minimize stress, from exercise (some is always better than none) to yoga or meditation. If you feel like a workout isn’t enough, consider hiring a life coach or therapist to help you manage your stress. If that feels like overkill, try taking a few minutes every day for yourself—go for a walk outside, take time out of your schedule for relaxation techniques like breathing exercises or listening to music. Whatever works best for you! Remember: You can’t be healthy if you aren’t happy.

Believe in yourself
There are many days when you will not feel like working out, eating healthy or doing any number of things that make a person feel good about themselves. But if you want to get in shape, lose weight or improve your overall health then it’s going to require commitment on your part. No one else is going to tell you how important it is for you to work out every day, eat healthier foods and get more sleep. It’s up to you! If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will either. So just do it!
