Final Thoughts on My Weight Loss Journey- What I Learned
While you can certainly lose weight with a healthy diet alone, it's important to note that exercise can help motivate you to stick to your healthy eating plan. Exercise also helps burn more calories than dieting alone, so if you're looking for a way to burn off those extra pounds fast, an exercise routine will serve as an excellent tool for getting the job done quickly.
I’ve always been a person who was happy to eat whatever I wanted. After all, like most people, I convinced myself that doing so would help me meet my weight loss goals. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case at all. After years of trying different diets in an attempt to lose weight and keep it off long-term, I finally decided to take my health into my own hands instead of relying on gimmicks or quick fixes. This is not just about losing weight or staying fit; it’s about learning how to live a healthier lifestyle overall—one day at a time!
I lost weight with a combination of diet and exercise

I love eating healthy food now
One thing I love about eating healthy is that I can still eat my favorite foods! It's not like I'm some kind of food-obsessed fanatic or anything, but if there's something I really love and want to eat, it's nice to know that if I am willing to sacrifice a little bit of fat for it, I'm able to do so without feeling like my favorite things are gone forever.
Not only will you feel better by eating healthier, but your productivity will increase too! After changing my diet and exercising regularly (which was the hardest part), my body feels more energized than ever before. The fresh air helps too--I used to hate going outside because it made me tired, but now when I go on walks around campus or just simply sit outside during lunchtime with friends, all the positive energy makes me excited about life instead of drained. With this newfound energy comes an increased ability to focus on tasks at hand: with fewer distractions in our lives due to unhealthy substances we have more mental clarity which helps us accomplish more work within less time
Exercise is more fun in a group
One of the best things about exercise is that it's a lot more fun when you do it with other people. Working out with a friend or family member can help you stick to your fitness goals, and give you someone to celebrate with when you achieve them! There are plenty of ways that you can work out together:
- Run on the treadmill at the same time as another person.
- Lift weights while talking to each other (and not talking about how much weight they're lifting).
- Participate in classes at the gym together (yoga, spinning, cardio kickboxing...the list goes on).
It’s not just about the weight loss, it’s about how you feel
It's not just about the weight loss, it's about how you feel.
In the end, I felt like a better version of myself than I had ever been before. My clothes fit better and looked more flattering on me. The way I carried myself changed dramatically in a positive way: my posture was better, my walk more confident and even my voice sounded stronger because I no longer felt like a shadow of myself anymore.
I became more comfortable with my body in general because I saw all its capabilities rather than focusing on its flaws or shortcomings (which are quite frankly few). In fact, after losing some weight and being able to do things that were hard before without getting out of breath or feeling fatigued almost immediately afterwards; those things became easier for me to do again!
My confidence grew tenfold as well - both physically & mentally - which allowed me to become comfortable with who I am now versus who I used to be back when all this started happening."
One journey's end is another's beginning.
The journey is the destination.
I think this is a concept that's easy to forget, especially if you're like me and have a tendency to focus on the end result and not the process. When I was first starting out with my weight loss journey, I would often get frustrated with myself when my weight loss wasn't going as fast as I wanted. Or, I would start comparing myself to other people or wondering what they were doing differently than me. When this happened, it was easy for me to lose sight of why I started this journey in the first place: because of how good it made me feel!
In my experience, there were two things that helped keep me motivated: 1) remembering why I started (remembering all those benefits listed above), 2) finding an accountability partner who could keep me honest (as well as hold me accountable). If you don't have someone in your life who can help you stay on track, then join a community such as Fitbitters or Reddit Fitness where other users are sharing their own personal experiences about what works/doesn't work for them and giving support along the way!
Conclusion

There are so many different ways to go about it and so many different things that can help you along the way. Whether it’s through dieting or exercise programs (or both), there are plenty of options out there that can help anyone achieve their goals. I hope my experience has given some insight into what worked for me as well as some tips on how other people might go about doing things differently than me!
