If you have acne scars, you know they are a pain to deal with.

First, you may deal with the onset and flare-ups associated with acne, and just when you thought it might be over, the acne scars appear to remind you of your experience with acne.

Despite what many will tell you, you are able to get rid of acne scars for good. All it takes is to follow the right tools and methods correctly.

The key to successfully removing acne scars is to be consistent with the treatment plan.

It’s important to remember to treat acne scars as soon as they appear. The sooner you treat them the better and faster they will heal.

The methods I share with you are tried and tested ways that will help you heal scarring, ones you can use straight from the comfort of your own home, with less or no side effects.

They are also available worldwide and easily accessible.

Holistic Approach

The best method that helps your skin naturally reduce the appearance of acne scars is by simply applying a holistic approach to tackling acne. This means look at acne from a holistic perspective and understand what triggers the onset of acne and intensifies the flare-ups.

It might be the excessive consumption of dairy or a lifestyle change. The cause of acne may be different from one person to another.

Identify your triggers and work towards a plan to reduce them in your life.

Lifestyle changes

It is important to ensure that the skin is supported from the inside out using the power of essential oils and proper nutrition in helping to repair the skin and renewing skin cells.

The first thing you can do is to nourish your skin with natural superfoods that are known for their skin healing benefits such as foods rich in collagen and essential fatty acids such as sprouted nuts, seeds, and avocados. These help repair skin tissue.

Alternatively, you can take a high-quality collagen supplement that has added vitamin c to help in the absorption of collagen in the body.

Black Seed Oil

You can also use black seed oil topically on your scars every day, which is known for its amazing benefits in reducing scars and helping skin heal faster. Make sure you are using the cold-pressed organic Black seed oil. Black seed oil is extracted from the black nigella seed which is known for its antibacterial, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties. You can view several scientific studies here.

Vitamin E oil

Another great natural alternative you can apply to your skin is Vitamin E oil which is considered one of the best for healing scars.

Just make sure to use one that is 100 percent pure and thick.

Frankincense Essential Oil

Another great alternative is using 100% pure Frankincense essential oil that is the master oil when it comes to skin scarring.

The research findings on frankincense essential oil have proven its amazing benefits when it comes to healing the skin, reducing scarring, and helping to repair and rebuild skin tissue. Make sure to use it on the scars after you have diluted it using another carrier oil such as argan oil for example.

Simply add 2–5 drops of frankincense essential oil with 20ml of argan oil, almond oil, or coconut oil and use it on the scars. Make sure to keep it away from the eyes and mouth.

This in itself is a powerful skin healing recipe that I have tried myself and was amazed at the benefits.

Manuka Honey

One of the best natural recommendations for diminishing acne scars and aiding the skin in its healing process is the use of manuka honey.

Honey plays a great role in getting rid of bacteria that causes acne and also aids the healing of skin tissue. You can apply honey to the affected part of your clean dry skin.

The mask can be kept on the skin for up to 15 minutes then cleaned using warm water followed by cold water to help tighten the pores.

Natural Products

Another option is to incorporate natural products such as face wash, gel, and toner which are specially formulated to suit your skin type. Going natural helps your skin to better absorb the cleansing effects of the products and greatly aids in healing. Products that contain vitamin c, collagen, and Hydrochloric acid are amazing for reducing scarring and encouraging skin cell renewal.

Laser Resurfacing

This is the most effective acne scar treatment that helps to remove acne scars using modern technology. It can be used for deep scars and involves the application of a laser on the affected skin.

This works to kill the bacteria that form the acne scars. Each session can last from a few minutes to a maximum of one hour depending on the severity of the scar.

It usually takes a few sessions to see results and has minimal side effects.

A Few Last Thoughts

  • Patience and consistency are important when you are using the methods discussed. The outer layer of the skin, the epidermis renews and regenerates approximately every 27 days. Depending on the severity of the acne scar, it is important to allow space for the skin to heal and go through a few renewal cycles.
  • Hydration is super important as helps keep skin moisturized, therefore helping with skin tone and assisting in the diminishing of acne scars.
  • Don’t obsess over the appearance of the acne scars as you are working through your selected treatment method. There is no timeline for the scars to completely diminish. The time frame varies from one person to another and it may depend on your selected treatment method, age, and lifestyle.
