Over the past year, the coronavirus flu has gone from a small aside about a virus to total media/social media and life domination. The spread of COVID-19 has plunged us into a whole new isolated existence. Daily, popular public events, schools, church services, music/athletic events, and more are being canceled or significantly altered. Businesses have closed. As each announcement has been made, and the case/death counts rose here in the US, the pervasive feeling of dread increased.
The overriding emotion driving this is FEAR and fear causes PANIC. This panic has caused dramatic events-stock market dropping, cleaning supplies being hoarded or sold for many times their intended cost-even a rush on buying toilet paper. Toilet paper? really? Widespread panic and fear will result in poor behavior, bad decision making and the result likely will not be an improvement of the situation, keeping us all safer, but the opposite.
From a medical and physiological standpoint, I urge everyone to NOT panic. Panic increases cortisol levels which lower our immune system-among other negative results (increased heart rate-blood pressure), especially long term.
The key for each of us is to remain calm. Do not be driven to fear and hysteria by the media reports. Instead, stop and think. How do I keep myself and my family safe? Sure- be safe and take precautions, wear an appropriate mask, wash your hands, don't touch your face, disinfect, but the real answer lies within. Boost your immune system!
Here are some key ways to do just that:
--sleep-it's the #1 most underrated commodity in the US
--drink more water- you likely don't drink enough , drink more!
--reduce unhealthy foods-reduce intake of white refined sugar,
processed foods, foods with preservatives/colors, do not eat
anything to which you react poorly-retain fluids,
achy joints
--go easy on the alcohol intake
--make your diet well rounded or supplement when needed
--vitamins/minerals to help boost immune system-C,E,D,B6, A,
folate, iron, zinc (check with your doctor to make sure these
are ok for you take have especially if you take medications)
--eat healthy-citrus fruits, elderberry, ginger, coconut, leafy
greens, cruciferous veggies, green tea, tropical fruits, honey
to name just a few
--breathe-get outside in the sun!
--gentle exercise/stretching
--think positive-negative thoughts will reduce your immunity
No matter what type of antigen you encounter in this world make your body ready to reduce it's impact. Understand you have complete control over yourself and what you do. Do not forget to take control of your thought process. Do NOT focus on this virus and engage over and over again on the pandemic swirling around us on media and elsewhere. Be calm, rock your immune system, smile and laugh more, make good choices for yourself and your family.
Sending healing love and light to all 🥰🥰
All the best from the beach!
