Brain Booster & Stress Reducer With This Combo
Super nutrient combo
“This is a complete disaster. We may as well pack up our desks and go home. I will switch the lights off in this office. We will all be in the unemployment line.”
Above is some of the rhetoric I have heard from a particular CEO, who did not have the emotional intelligence to deal with any challenge that confronted us. Later on, when the calm thinkers amongst us had come up with solutions and actually put plans together to overcome the challenges, he would apologise for his outbursts. I applaud him for his apologies, but often think, why react emotionally rather than rationally in the first place?
When something challenging happens at work or in our personal lives, we require quick but also calm thought. This is quite a paradox to navigate through, but times of crises require this type of thinking.
We need to ensure that we react fast but with a clear head, and think clearly through what actions we will take.
What if I told you that there was a super nutrient or superfood that allowed for this type of paradoxical brain and intellectual performance? What if I told you that in combination with another super nutrient, it had a brain boosting effect?
There is an active ingredient in this nutrient that relaxes you without making you feel drowsy.
Have you ever witnessed different people in a crisis? You get two extremes and then everyone in between.
At the one end of extreme we have the ‘panic mechanics’ who go into a flat spin at the drop of a hat. Rhetoric like ‘This is a complete disaster!’ and ‘that’s it, we’re done!’ (that CEO I mentioned before is a case in point) and at the other extreme we have the ‘laid back Larry’s’ who seem unphased even when the world around them is crumbling.
Usually they show no emotion, it’s as if they don’t care. Most times, they quietly observe the panic mechanics throwing their toys out of their playpen. Probably looking at the emotional outburst as a movie they are watching live.
We need a happy medium when dealing with a challenge in both personal life and work life. A calm, but fast, and rational thinking process is required.
Scientific studies show that this super nutrient I mentioned before, includes a special amino acid called L-theanine, that has the effect of calming us but also not making us drowsy.
It has a positive effect on our brains. This active ingredient increases the alpha wave brain activity, so that you remain relaxed but alert. To increase the effectiveness and receive a double benefit, studies have shown, that combining it with caffeine leads to the calming effect of the L-theanine and the brain boosting effects of the caffeine without the jitters that often accompany those sensitive to caffeine.
L-theanine combined with the caffeine also increased mood and attention while thinking and completing tasks that require intellectual focus.
L -theanine alone was also found to reduce the reaction time to attention tasks, and after several weeks of taking about 100mg a day of L-theanine as a supplement, it also enhanced working memory by increasing correct answers and reducing mistakes.
Drinking 200mg of L-theanine reduced stress about one hour after consumption. And these stress reducing effects lasted for about three hours after drinking the L-theanine. Studies have shown this super nutrient lowers heart rate and therefore reduces stress.
The best source of L-theanine is green tea, but black tea also contains the phytonutrient.
Prevention is better than cure, some studies show that the memory and focus benefits are being seen in young adults 25–34 years of age. Green tea should be a consideration for this age group to achieve their potential and possibly stave off brain decline in later life.
The combination of Green tea and caffeine has the greatest brain boosting and memory retention benefits.
This combination should be a compulsory brain boosting drink morning and afternoon given the increasing incidences of Alzheimers in the world.
The studies have also shown that drinking rather than eating matcha (green tea) increases the absorption and benefits of this healthy beverage.
The active compounds in green tea have also shown to have cancer fighting properties, and this too is a health war that we as humans are engaged in daily.
So why not consume green tea and coffee at various times of the day? Or how about consuming them in combination? Each of us needs to understand our bodies because different food types and beverages have differing effects on each of us. ‘One man’s meat is another man’s poison.’ If in doubt rather consult your doctor or a dietician. My beverages of choice will be tea, coffee and water, remember a large percentage of our brain comprises water, so give it what it needs.
Swap the sodas, choose health, choose life.
Thank you for reading if you got to this point. I wish you strong mental and brain health.
