Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively and empathize with others.
Why is it important?
How many times have you been not able to control your emotions? Bursting out in anger,
Saying yes when you don't want to and destroying relationships just because you were not able to control or express your emotions in the way you want to.
EQ comes in to play here, it's helps you to connect with people and understand them at a deeper level.
EQ is also not just about controlling or expressing our emotions but also understanding the emotion of others. Just imagine you being not able to understand when a friend is feeling sad. It's terrible isn't it?
All the more reason to develop EQ.
Psychologists have found that people with EQ tend to be more successful in life than people with high IQ.
How can you develop it?
One of the easiest way to develop EQ is to put yourself in others shoes.
2. Ability To Analyze
The ability to analyze is an invaluable skill that will differentiate you from others. Analyzing helps you find how something works and make better decisions.
Just look at data analysts they collect data from various sources and analyze it to make it better.
3. Learning How To Learn
Everyone learns differently. Some people retain more when they write and some from reading. And it's not about just memorizing, you need to understand what you learn too.
You need to figure out your way of learning. It can not only save your time but you can become more efficient.
Learning how to learn can be one of the most valuable investments you can make on yourself.

Having a definite purpose in life can make your life way easier as you know what you need to do for your future.
It also gives you a drive that can help you achieve your goals.

Having a growth mindset can help you overcome obstacles that stand in your in achieving something.
It makes your mind open to new ideas and you constantly look for ways to become better.
It changes the way you look at something and by changing the way you think you can change the way you learn and become much more productive and efficient.
Growth mindset makes you understand the importance of persistence and determination. It is a must skill to have.

You need to protect your mind from the wrong people so that you are not influenced by them.
It's surprising how easy it is to influence our mind that too without we knowing it ourselves, of course some can protect themselves but the place you live, friends you have can all effect you.
Even if have a strong willpower you will still be slightly influenced.
Having this skill and mastering it is a different case.
How can you protect your mindset?
Easiest way is to avoid things that have a negative impact on you and surrounding yourself which have a positive impact.
For example, you can follow people in social media who can help you grow as person and achieve your goals.
7. Time management
Time is invaluable. Time spent is never coming back even money can't buy time that's why rich people know the value of time and so they use it effectively and efficiently.
I can't stress this enough don't waste your time.
Time never stops it continues to flow and so if you are going to spent why not spent it doing something valuable.

Applying What You Learn
If you can't use what you have learnt what's the point in learning it? Imagine you spending a lot of time
reading a book and can't apply what you have read. It's a just waste of time.
You probably have heard " knowledge is power"
But its not, "knowledge is potential power" depending on how you use your knowledge.
