Phone Witchcraft

Closeted witches often find themselves having a hard time dedicating time to their practice. Whether the problem is lack of privacy or resources you can find alternate solutions right on your phone!

Apps can be found ranging from tarot cards, moon calendars, spells, communities, runes, astrology, and guides to palm readings. The good news is majority of them are free and actually used by quite a lot of witches.

Here a few heavily suggested:

  • Astro Future- a natal chart for those into divination
  • Retrograde- an active account of current retrogrades
  • Moon Phase- for lunar witches who like to keep track of the moon's phases
  • Tarot and Numerology- Tarot cards on the go with the traditional Rider Waite Tarot deck and others (free and purchasable)
  • Secret Altars

Many witches start in their teenage years and can not have open altars. For a smaller altar you cane use tins from breath mints or gums - often used as travel altars.

For a less portable altar empty art cases or pencil boxes can be used. Still easy to disguise but bigger. Remember an altar does not need to be lavish and huge. A small or simple altar will work too.

    Sigils!

Sigils are the best tool for closeted witches. A simple but powerful tool to set intentions. They can be placed anywhere from your own body, to the back of necklaces, or even on a piece of paper you can carry around.

For a more personal approach a sigil can be handmade and crafted but a popular website for busy witches is Sigilscribe. Sigilscribe lets the user enter their intention and then creates a sigil for them. Simple and ready to go for witches in a rush.

    Crystal Necklaces

Crystals are such a powerful and important tool for witches. Unfortunately for some it is impossible to travel to a metaphysical shop and buy them. The next best thing are crystal necklaces. They are much easier to find on a private level. Many stores carry them and the necklace form is appreciated, as they can be worn after blessings or spells.

    Knot/ Cord Magic

A type of magic that has recently been gaining users is knot magic. Knot magic is simply amazing for closeted or baby witches. All it takes is a cord or some type of string and an intention. Even if yarn or other materials aren't available at your closest dollar store tie the strings attached to book-bags or purses as quick spells. For example, when I need extra luck during the school day I tie a knot in my back-pack strings.

You'll be surprised at how useful a string can become in your practice.

    Clay and Play-dough

Although this is one of the more complex tricks in this list it is still pretty easy. Different things can be made from clay. This idea was given to me by the wonderful YouTuber The With of Wonderlust in the following video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCWQcs2qDmI

It seemed to good to be true but I picked up the clay I had around the house and made my own offering bowl. Not only was it inexpensive but I was able to make it exactly like I wanted. Since I have a hidden altar I made my bowl small and was able to paint it to match my deities. Now I'm quick to think if I can use my clay to make supplies.

If you are unsure at first and scared of buying clay, use some cheap play-dough first. Certain things like offering bowls or candle holders can't really be made out of it, but if you want to just try and experiment then this is a useful step.

That is all, but I hope you learned something new and useful from this post. I wish you well on your journey. Blessed be!
