Using Canna Terra (Coco) as a soil conditioner

CANNA COCO is becoming more popular because of the high price of nutrients and complex hydroponic systems. One customer stated, "I have grown some crops but don't know much about how to grow." Everything was wrong with soil. The first time was too much water, then too little. This is all history since I began using Canna Coco. "COCO substrate is foolproof!" I am an excellent example.

Higher yields 6 10%

Along with water, air is essential for plants' roots. Research across many mediums has shown that air has a greater impact on root growth. This results in 6--10% higher yields and lower fertilizer use. Roots that are more intensely rooted will be more able to absorb nutrients and water faster, and can keep up with plant needs. To achieve more air in the substrate, drip irrigate less often. To get more water, drip irrigate less often. This will strengthen the root system and prevent moisture saturation. The results of drip irrigation once per day showed that the substrate contained 3% more air, while canna Terra (Coco), drips less.

Weak growth due to water saturation

CANNA COCO is made up of thousands of capillary microsponges that retain almost 1000% of their body weight in water. COCO is rich in nutrients and water. It is better to dry the media slightly than to soak it in water. In moist environments, fungal diseases like Pythium thrive. Dryer substrates let more air through roots, which encourages them to absorb more nutrients. This results in faster growth and greater yields.

Timing is an important tool. Timing is an important tool. If the COCO is too wet, reduce or stop watering. Next, you can start normal watering. The COCO can be checked by either measuring its weight or lifting the COCO from a pot. Watering plants that are fully grown is recommended at 4 to 6 liters for every square meter. Reduce the amount of watering and increase the nutrients. This will allow you to make the most of what water is available. This will increase drainage.

The frequency of watering will depend on the COCO's water supply, and evaporation. Normal conditions will require only one watering per day for the first few weeks. After 2 hours, increase the frequency to twice daily. COCO will dry quicker if the root volume per plant is smaller (smaller pots, or more plants per square). These plants require more frequent watering.

COCO measuring method

  • The most reliable method to determine the level of nutrients in COCO is the 1:1.5 extraction method. This method can measure the EC and pH levels in the root environment. Because COCO can release and retain elements, the pH of drain water will usually differ from that of the root environment.
  • You can take a sample COCO out of the slabs or pots. This can be done with a coco soil core tester, or a trowel. To get a representative sample, the COCO must come from as many places as possible.
  • Test the COCO sample for moisture. It is considered right if the COCO feels moist between your fingers. If necessary, mix the COCO with demineralized water.
  • Fill 250ml measuring cups with 150ml demineralized water. To the 250ml mark, add COCOCO. Mix well and allow the mixture to settle for no more than two hours.
  • Mix again and measure the pH.
  • Next, filter the material to determine the EC.
  • A 1:1.5 analysis can be done in 3 to 4 weeks. The target values for EC are between 1.1 and 1.3, and pH between 5.5 and 6.2. Burning symptoms can result from high EC values. To reduce the risk of burning, rinse the COCO in acidified water containing Coco B/A (PH 5.8).
