Prepare the surface in advance:

Clean the surface/walls by removing dirt, dust, and uneven particles. Sandpaper can be used for this purpose as it can make the surface even when properly rubbed against the surface. The putty blade can also be used to clear out dust particles or mortar. Try to fix the holes or chipped-off surfaces as per the need. Chipped-off surfaces and holes that lead to uneven surfaces also need to be treated before applying the paint.
