Tickr: An Ethical Investment
A little gem of an app!

Everybody knows that climate change is one of the biggest global challenges. It’s always been a big issue that has been overshadowed by political corrption and the current COVID pandemic. There’s only so much we can blame on Covid. Climate change, formally known as global warming has been an issue for decades and it’s only now that the government have started to make small changes.
I was referred to the Tickr app through Sweatcoin. I’ve had the Sweatcoin app laying dormant on my phone for ages. I’ve never spent any of my Sweatcoins and I’ve just let them build up overtime. I didn’t have to spend any of my Sweatcoins to use this app, but I got fifteen pounds just for starting up.
This app has come to me at the right time. I’ve been working on multiple writing projects and trying to supplement my income with writing has been a challenge, but one I feel has saved my life. I also feel more confident trying to invest now.
Tickr dosen’t really sound like an app to invest in. If I hadn’t have known it was an investment app, I would have thought it was th Chinese counterpart of Tinder. I decided to go with it because I believed in their principles and being able to invest in a healthier planet made sense to me.
I like how laid back the app is. It makes investing easy. When I’ve read self-help books about getting rich, they often talk about investments. To be honest, I always found investments daunting. Though when I think about it, my pension at work and the saving accounts I have, count as investments.
The tickr app has some great features. You can round up change that you use with your debit card to go towards your stocks and shares ISA. The referral scheme looks amazing: you get fifteen pound for every person ou refer plus you help towards planting two new trees. You can also top up your ISA monthly usin a debit card. At the moment, I’m doing twenty-five a month.
The insights option is quite easy to use. I can see how much my savings will transform If the market changes. In ten years time, my small deposits in the ISA could be worth around three to seven thousand depending on how the market grows. I love how you can choose to invest in people, the climate or both. So far, the Tickr community has planted over 16000 trees. It feels great knowing that my investments are going towards a good cause.
My only regret is not getting into investments sooner. I wonder how much money I would have had now, if I had the saving habits I did today. I try not to live my life with regrets, and sometimes I wonder if I am saving too much money, but my current goal with my savings is to put 200 quid a month put away. It’s easier said than done, and I do need to clear my credit card bill first.
As with any investments, stock can rise and fall, but it’s a risk I know I’m taking. I still feel like it’s better than gambling. I’ve enjoyed using this app so far. The only problems I’ve had with it is that sometimes it can be quite slow to start up.
I feel like so far this app has changed me as a person. I feel a lot more mature with my money. There’s so much I want to do in my life. I’m 30 next year, and for he first time in my life, I’m starting to feel like time is running out for me. I don’t know how long I will live, but I want to live a life that fulfills me and makes me happy. I want to know that my contributions are helping the world in one way or another.
