The Dark Side of ChatGPT.
Unethical uses of the text based artificial intelligence.

You can ask ChatGPT to write a song, a poem or a joke. Unfortunately, you can also ask it to do something unethical.
ChatGPT isn't just about improved productivity and creativity as some of the things it can be used for are downright nefarious. It can very easily be turned into a weapon and used for all the wrong purposes.
In many ways, it's even easier to use than the standard Google search. You get the answer as a conventional reply, and there's no need to browse through ranked results or surf through different sites to get the information you seek. ChatGPT gives you a direct response like in a chat conversation. It's concise, to the point, and informative, and it can simplify complex things if you ask for it.
The very fact that it's a widely available conversational AI means that it can as well be easily abused and that the more powerful ChatGPT is, the more likely it is to help people with the wrong things.
1. Scams.
If you have an email account, you have almost certainly received a scam email at some point.
A common scam that is still running today is the so-called "inheritance scam", where a scammer tries to convince a victim to help them transfer their unexpected fortune to another country.
Luckily, most people know better than to open these emails, let alone interact with them because they are often poorly written.
This helps the more astute victim figure out that something is wrong.
Well, they don't have to be poorly written anymore because ChatGPT can write them in seconds.
2. Programming.
ChatGPT 3.5 can program, but it's far from flawless. Many developers agree GPT-4 works much better. People have used ChatGPT to create their own games, extensions and applications. It's also very useful as a learning tool if you're trying to learn how to program.
Being an artificial intelligence, ChatGPT has an advantage over human developers - it can learn any programming language and framework.
As an AI, ChatGPT also has one big drawback compared to human developers - it has no conscience.
You can tell it to create malware or ransomware and if you give your prompt correctly, it will do what you say.
Fortunately, it's not that easy. I tried to ask ChatGpt to write me a very ethically questionable program and it refused, but researchers are finding ways around it, and the worry is that if you're smart and stubborn enough, you might find dangerous code. on a silver platter.
There are many examples of how this happens. A security researcher at Forcepoint was able to get ChatGPT to write malware after finding flaws in its signals.
Researchers at CyberArk, a privacy protection company, were able to write ChatGPT malware in disguise. This was in January - since then OpenAI has tightened security measures regarding such things.
However, new reports continue to surface that ChatGPT is being used to create malware. As Dark Reading reported a few days ago, a researcher was able to create ChatGPT malware that can find and extract certain documents.
ChatGPT doesn't even need to write malicious code to do something fishy. More recently, it was able to generate valid Windows keys, opening the door to a new level of software hacking.
Let's not even consider the fact that GPT-4 encoding capabilities could one day put millions of people out of work. It's definitely a double-edged sword.
3. Writing.
The art of writing, which was a skill previously specialized amongst few talented individuals who could manipulate words into interesting stories, journals, documents, movie scripts and so on is probably the most affected by the emergence of ChatGPT. As everyone with access to ChatGPT can create any form of written work with the help of this text based artificial intelligence tool. Making redundant the development of writing skills by individuals who uses this tool.
ChatGPT is too good for its own good and is now being more relied on than any other internet research tool, it is also being discovered by thousands of new users daily. And while it can be used for good, it will also be used in many bad ways.
Love it or hate it, ChatGPT and similar chat bots are here to stay. And while some people are happy about this, some others regret that it was ever created, but this does not change the fact that the presence of ChatGPT in our lives will only grow over time. And even if you don't personally use ChatGPT or a similar chat bot, the chances are that you've already seen some of the content it has created.
