Spring Has Sprung!

A Guide to Cleansing Your Personal Spaces for the Spring Season

By Anastasia McGowanPublished 7 years ago 2 min read

Spring has sprung! Let us rejoice and give thanks! Everything that we have been putting into motion during winter is about to bloom and we are going to see the fruits of our labor. To ensure that we are ready to claim our rewards from the bountiful universe, we first must make sure our homes are just as ready as we are to receive. The energy of spring is that of new beginnings and our personal spaces must reflect that. Out with the old! This is a quick but informative guide on how to enhance and cleanse your space and bring in the new!

Does it serve me?

Going through personal belongings and determining if it still has value in our lives and can still be used for its intended purpose is a great way to declutter your space. Go through your closet and remove any ill-fitting clothing. For us women going through purses and throwing away old receipts from restaurants and stores we probably won't visit again is also helpful. People tend to hold onto knick-knacks that have been collected throughout the year, but chances are you don't actually need it and it is taking up space! Don't just throw things away, if they are still in decent working condition, donate to your local shelter, church, or GoodWill!

Clean! Clean! Clean!

Cleaning your house from top to bottom helps the energy flow better. Cleaning out the corners and moving furniture into new spots facilitates better flow, and can even impact your mood once it's all said and done!

Art

Adding art into your space helps enhance your own creativity. I have never really painted for fun before, until last year when a good friend of mine got me into it, and I have a few of my creations up and looking at them helps me remember who I am. There is something about creating that gives you a great sense of self, and allowing that energy to grow in your home or work space helps boost your mood and confidence.

Plants

I find that having flowers around and plants boosts my mood—tending to them, watering them, changing their pots, it is all very therapeutic—and having a piece of nature in your home will help to ground you when you need it.

Sage & Palo Santo

Both sage and palo santo have been used for generations by the Natives. They serve to help dispel any negativity, any spirits that do not belong, and any old emotions that we have released into our space. While using these two, I like to set the intention of what kind of energy I want in my home; this is just something I have grown accustomed to doing, it is not necessary since sage and palo santo changes the energy of any space for the better, I've just learned to be more precise while I'm cleansing and setting up energy.

Essential Oils

While cleaning, if I am mopping I like to add different oils to the water for different emotional and energetic effects. If someone is or has been sick, adding tea tree oil is a great way to help with any bacteria that might be lying dormant; it is antiseptic and smells great as well. Adding a couple drops of your favorite essential oil to water in a spray bottle is a great way to add an aromatic touch to your home!
