Saving money from small changes at home.
And being eco friendly
Everyone wants to save money, many believe that they cannot as it is too hard to make any changes. Its actually a lot easier than you would think. Even the smallest change can help save you money over the year.
As life changes we sometimes take on more costs, it could be just a large cost or many small costs which just add up. The following information can help reduce your costs be it small amount or large depending on the changes you want to do.
This first one is probably the hardest. Because many of us enjoy hot showers especially after a long day.
1. Taking shorter hot showers. (Believe me I enjoy them too) This can be hard if you like taking long hot showers. However by just putting a timer on to help remind you of when its time to get out. If you go for 30 min showers slowly decrease the amount of time you spend in the shower and get into the habit for having 15 min showers. By doing this you can save a couple dollars even more on you water bill.
2. If you would hand wash bottle, instead of throwing them out when they are finished and buying new ones. Keep the bottle and buy refillable hand wash. Put in a small amount of refillable hand wash and fill with water. By doing this you are being more eco friendly and having your self $3 or more every hand wash bottle. And buying a refillable one will last weeks even months depending on the amount used.
3. Chemical free household. You may be surprised about the ingredients you have at home. E.g. Baking soda, lemon juice etc. These are just examples of ingredients you may already have at home that can be used to replace the cleaning sprays that you have at home. By changing to a more eco friendly natural ingredient lifestyle. You will have a more healthy household and be saving lots on money by using ingredients you have at home. Research eco friendly cleaning recipes and enjoy a chemical free household.
4. If your a soda water lover this is for you. Soda water is healthy, but buying all the soda water plastic bottles is harming the earth. So instead of buying soda water bottles why not buy a soda stream or something similar, it comes with bottles, just fill up the bottle with tap or filtered water and put into the soda stream and it carbonates the water being more eco friendly and having the same great taste.
5. Make meals from scratch, instead of buying packaged food. It may take more time, but it you will know what's in it as you'll be the one making the delicious food. You'll be surprised how any ingredients you already have in your pantry to make a meal or snacks from scratch. For example no bake oat and peanut butter slice. Requires 3 ingredients oats, peanut butter and honey. And only takes 10 min preparations then needs to be chilled . Look at old recipe books or meals on a budget recipes very helpful when trying to save money and still provide family a healthy meal. (One thing I found handy was crossing over you food. So some meals for the week require the same ingredients)
In regards to paying bills, have you ever considered paying small amounts each week. For example if you water bill is $250 why not pay $10 a week on your water account so that by the time the water bill comes it isn't as high. (My family pays amounts on our power bill each week and we have been in credit for 2 months now.)
