Pure Green, one of the fastest-growing juice bar franchises in the United States, is reinforcing its environmental leadership by implementing a series of impactful sustainability initiatives across its national footprint. From sourcing local and organic ingredients to integrating recyclable materials into operations and store design, Pure Green is setting a strong example in the fast-casual health and wellness sector.

With a mission to build healthier communities globally, Pure Green has embedded sustainability into the foundation of its business model. The company’s approach spans the entire supply chain—connecting local farmers to customers, reducing waste through the use of imperfect produce, and collaborating with eco-conscious distributors and vendors.

“At Pure Green, sustainability is not a policy—it’s a core value,” said Ross Franklin, Founder and CEO of Pure Green. “We believe caring for our communities and the planet is essential to long-term success, and we’re committed to doing our part through every step of our operation.”

A cornerstone of the initiative is Pure Green’s partnership with local farmers and purveyors to source fresh, organic, and regionally grown produce whenever possible. This not only ensures the highest quality ingredients but also minimizes transportation emissions and supports local economies. In the Chicago market, for instance, 80% of raw ingredients are sourced from Testa Produce, a supplier whose LEED® Platinum-certified facility uses renewable energy from wind turbines and solar panels, in addition to advanced water conservation systems.

To further cut environmental impact, Pure Green has incorporated more than one million pounds of “imperfect produce” into its product offerings—fruits and vegetables that may not meet cosmetic standards for retail but are perfectly suitable for juicing. This initiative has significantly reduced food waste and diverted produce from landfills.

Pure Green has also committed to reducing single-use plastics across all locations. Its 16-ounce cold-pressed juice bottles and 2-ounce wellness shot bottles are made from 100% recyclable PET plastic. The company promotes the use of reusable stainless steel straws—available for purchase in all stores—and ensures all straw alternatives are recyclable. Additionally, its oatmeal bowls are compostable, and napkins are produced from fully recyclable materials.

In-store construction practices also reflect the company’s environmental priorities. Pure Green locations incorporate Baltic Birch wood—a fast-growing, sustainable timber known for durability and minimal environmental impact. This design choice ensures stores are built with both style and sustainability in mind.

“We’ve built sustainability into every layer of our operations, from the materials in our stores to the produce in our juices,” Franklin added. “As we continue to grow, our commitment to the environment will only deepen.”

With these actions, Pure Green is not just responding to growing consumer demand for sustainable business practices—it is actively shaping the future of the juice and wellness industry. As the brand expands nationally, its environmental efforts will serve as a blueprint for other franchises seeking to operate responsibly in a changing climate.
