My Dream is a home filled with love
A life worth living

Dream home
As a child I grew up in a fairy tale. Raised by my grandparents in Germany and across Europe we visited many different landscapes and I saw the most mythic magnificent homes. I visited grand castles. I climbed mountains. I engaged with mountain goats mostly running away from them. I ate fresh butter and cheese which was made from the milk of the goats. The view was majestic, and the air was clean. The Sky was layered in hand painted blue complemented by jeweled Golden highlights.
We would walk through the forest and drink fresh water from the Springs that came through the mountains Crack. It was a fresh spring. My grandfather told stories of faries and gnomes that lived in the forest. I believed every word he told me.
We would hike through the woods for a half of a day and eat cold sandwiches which we have carried with us on the journey. We would emerge from the forest and find ourselves in a magnificent field golden from one end to the other highlighted by a horizon of blue and of warm setting sun.
What I remember about these times were the feelings of love and connection that one gets when they are a member of a family. My home is blessed by God. I hear laughter and stories being told. The clashing in a kitchen, it evokes memories of aromas. The sounds of chopping and the clanking of glasses that happening during a special celebration.
My home, my dream home, is filled with love laughter and life. My dream home is filled with my children, their partners and their children, finally, my grandchildren and our friends.
The place I envision, the place I imagine, if money were no object is one that has a vast amount of land. A place where horses can be ridden. Where Roosters are heard crowing in the morning and the eggs of the chickens are harvested at the crack of dawn.
I don't know if I want to go to the extreme and consider owning cows, I feel that would be more than I could handle however it is an option that is not opposed.
In the distance, I see trees and a horizon. A small Lake or a pond on or near the property with an abundance of fresh fish. The place is somewhere in the Midwest. I am in Illinois and I anticipate that this place is situated in Illinois.
I am comfortable with Illinois. I have become familiar with its laws and its rules. As an individual who is nearing her senior years, the idea of learning a whole new system, a whole new town, a whole new city, or state, although very exciting for a visit and a trip is not an option I am considering.
I do believe that there are some lovely towns in the state of Illinois. I am fond of the northern part of the state since it lends itself to a great number of lakes. Also, it is near two other states therefore it is possible to travel by car. I like a road trip. I imagine the children and myself, the gang, the grandchildren, and the partners on a road trip stopping along the way to explore strange new places.
It is not the inside of a home that is important, rather, it is what happens inside of that home that is important. For me, it is the ability to cook in a lovely kitchen. Nothing too extravagant however, certainly large enough for a family gathering. A kitchen with an island. A kitchen where I can hang my pots and pans. A kitchen where I have a grill, a flat grill, like the kind that you find at your local diner. I love to make a grilled cheese. I hate to clean a pan. I think this would be the option that I would choose. Perhaps, an extra-large oven so that the Turkey can be large enough to feed the entire family and a second oven so that the side dishes can be cooked at the same time. A warming area where the food could be kept while the other items are prepared. And a double wide refrigerator with two doors. One of those gigantic stainless-steel refrigerators. The kind with drawers at the bottom cause I'd like to freeze some food. Also, it wouldn't be bad to have a big freezer so that you could store frozen food also reducing the need to shop often. I would only shop for the fresh items that one would need however, in this situation, I feel I would be growing much of my fresh food during the good summer months. I would be using the storage space to can those items that I would like to store for the winter months. It is what I learned in Germany as a child from my grandmother. I learned to make fresh jams and jellies and she also liked to pickle things.
There is much that I learned from my grandmother and she taught me how to cook. I would like to have a place where I could cook. A place where I could cook for my family and feed my family So that their soul and their spirit may be fed.
A place like this would require many bedrooms. However, they would not have to be fancy. I have considered the option of building a home from shipping containers. A shipping container costs around $35,000. Also, one could use several shipping containers and connect them. One could also have a center in the connected shipping containers that would serve as an outdoor space perhaps, it would have a koi pond. Perhaps, the cats could run freely there without going too far.
In the winter it would be a lovely site to place a Christmas tree. I feel that would be in the center the center outdoor space and that the family would gather. A place of celebration to unite. There could be a small area with a sand garden. A place to meditate and rake some sand.
On the other side of the house it would simply be very modest. Some improvements could be made, and I've attached some photographs that are inspirational and have great visionary inspiration. I feel that the most important part of this home is the connection of families.
Truly, if each partner or group would have one shipping container that really resembles 2 bedrooms it would, holds a kitchen and a bathroom and if 5 or 4 shipping containers were put together, the cost is still very low and it lends itself to so much space that is my dream it is truly my dream.
