I mostly publish my articles on my blog and share them on Medium and Vocal.media.

There are good alternatives for the content creator and online writers besides those two popular platforms.

I going to share the most popular and prominent ones below.

1. HubPages

HubPages is the first website I found when I was looking for ways to make money by typing online.

HubPages is an ad revenue sharing site where you earn money when people click on ads in the articles you write. Another way to make money on HubPages is to sign up as a member of Amazon and add products from these websites to your articles.

Everyone on this site is very helpful. To get started, all you have to do is create an account and write your first article.

2. TextBroker

To apply to Textbroker, you will need to submit 500-word writing sample.

Update: They are not accepting authorship applications until 2022, so please check availability from time to time.

Admission Requirements

Textbroker rates its authors by stars. They gave you a four-star post based on your writing sample. Their highest rating is 5 stars, but no one starts at that level. To get a 5-star achievement, you have to pass a somewhat difficult grammar test. You took the test once and failed, so you have to wait six months to take the test again. 5-star authors can also choose to redact and edit.

How To Make Money

Textbroker doesn't pay very well. The best way to earn more money on this site is to refer to teams. Some teams pay very well.

Another way to make more money is to impress your customers with your writing and start taking orders directly from them.

Textbroker pays once a week with a minimum threshold of $10.

One of the advantages of writing for Textbroker is that your articles are rarely rejected. Sometimes you will receive a revision request for your article that you must complete within 24 hours. Others have a 2 or 3 day deadline, depending on when the client needs to complete it.

If you want to start writing for a user-friendly and simple website, I highly recommend Textbroker. If you have experience with HTML and use anchor text to link to websites, these skills will be helpful but not required.

3. IWriter

To apply to iWriter as an author, all you have to do is create an account there and submit with two writing samples.

For acceptance; Once you set up your account on IWriter, you can start typing right away. Everyone starts at the same level on this site. There are 3 author levels: Standard, Premium and Elite.

After getting 30 reviews from customers you've written an article for, you can move on to the next level if you have an average of 4.2 star ratings. If you have an average star rating of 4.6, you will be promoted to elite writer rank.

How To Make Money

Even if you're just starting out at the first level, you want to write quality articles. Most of the customers you write articles for will give you a point. Some don't, so you may need to write more than 30 articles to get to the next level. Also, some will definitely reject your articles. It hurts a little bit, but don't let it get you down.

Your goal is to get your 30 comments and earn more coins by going to the next level. If customers are truly satisfied with your work, they can add you to their favourite list and send you requests directly. They can also give you tips for your business.

4. Medium

According to Medium's own definition, it is an open platform where readers find dynamic thinking and where expert and undiscovered voices can share their writings on any topic.

If I speak to someone who has never heard of Medium, I would describe it as "Instagram for long-form, written content instead of images" or "Youtube but for blog posts instead of videos".

Getting started writing on Medium is a breeze. You can create a profile in 15 minutes and that's it - you're ready to write and publish your first story. Starting your own website will take much longer, so Medium is by far the simplest way to start writing online, regardless of all the other benefits.

Medium is a great place to generate leads/email subscribers for your business. I love supporting new writers, but my heart beats for entrepreneurship and I am obsessed with helping writers start independent online businesses.

The original version of this article is published on My Blog. I also write on Medium.
