How to Style your Home in 6 Easy Ways?

While most of us are neither interior stylist not designers, we do understand that our homes are essentially representative of our personalities.

Most people seem to think that there is no difference between an interior stylist and an interior designer, and often use the two interchangeably. But, the two are quite different from each other. An interior stylist is an artist who works on putting in and arranging the decoration elements in a room or a space together, whereas an interior designer has a more holistic approach. Interior designers usually work with the layout of the space. Stylists have a good understanding of textures, visual aesthetics, and the interaction of light with shapes and spaces, whereas designers are experts in spatial planning.

Everyone wants their homes to look spic-span and as sophisticated as possible, without having to go through hiring an interior designer all over again. If that sounds like something like you, then keep reading. We have done our homework and compiled a list of items that you can add to your home decor without hassle, and enhance the style and look of your space. Here are some quick ways that you can change the look of your space without spending the big bucks:

Repainting and redoing a palette:

The walls not only define the space of a room but also occupy most of the potential space in decor. Depending on the way you color the walls of your space, they can either be points of visual focus or have no presence at all. Rich and dark colors are usually quite prominent and do most of the work in setting a theme, whereas a lighter and muted shade will easily blend with the rest of the environment. A monotone palette of multiple shades of the same color is definitely a design hack to keep in mind if most of your room’s decor items revolve around the same colors.

Adding a point of visual focus:

It is said that the difference between a well-done decor and a mediocre one is that a well-done space has a story to tell. A well-done space is full of conversations, but without the proper flow, even the best stories fall apart. Our eyes and minds are always wavering, and as such usually need an object in a room to focus on. A centerpiece in a space is a great way to set the tone for starting these conversations.

For an item to be a point of visual focus, it should, as it is named, lie in the center or at an attention centric point in the space. Centerpieces are design-heavy objects that are usually kept on low tables. Depending on the designs, the low-tables or furniture can also be centerpieces. Rugs make for excellent pieces of visual focus and are quite good at tying the decor of a space together. The use of rugs is getting more and more popular every day, and today there are rugs for all types of spaces from living room rugs and dining room rugs, to those used in bedrooms or kitchens.

Use mirrors to make your space appear larger:

You can place mirrors wherever possible in your spaces to create the illusion of having a larger space. Not only do mirrors make the place look absolutely wonderful and stunning, they also reflect a lot of light and help make the space look brighter and more voluminous. To get the best effect, have a full-length mirror from the bottom of the wall to shoulder height.

Add greenery:

Adding green plants to your space is probably the simplest, easiest, and most economical styling tip to enhance your decor. Buy beautiful indoor plants and contrast them with gorgeous pots and holders in bright colors to create a beautiful corner in your space. If you have the space, do not hesitate to buy larger variants in pots that are adequately sized. Having plants in your space can be either a point of visual focus or they can be subtly blended into a corner in the space. Having plants in your space can also be a focal point if you are proud plant-parents.

If you are new to plants, we recommend that you can contact your local gardener to help you out with the basics of plant care, and this way you would also be helping your local economy and the environment. It’s a win-win situation for all.

Comfort above all:

Above all, comfort should be what your space is about. Comfort is not only what feels comfortable to sit on or lie down, but also what feels like rest to your eyes. A decor that has too many elements can have a psychological effect on our minds which cause us to not feel at ease with the space. A comfortable sofa set, a comfortable chair that doesn’t hurt your spine as you sit on it, or a decor tone that feels relaxing. There are quite a few ways that you can design and style your space for such a design tone.
