Kitchen beetles are the parasites that more and more block tenants are facing. The reasons why they "stay" without being invited in the apartments are varied, from the negligence of leaving food on the table or in different accessible corners of the kitchen, to the rubbish of household waste that exists inside the block, representing a real invitation. for cockroaches and other parasites, such as rodents.

If in the latter respect you can't take too many measures, in terms of the first aspect, it's up to you to follow the rules. Besides all this, however, there are other reasons why you can't get rid of kitchen beetles, as well as some methods to get them out of your home for good.

Here's what you need to do to get rid of those unwanted guests!

Tips and methods to get rid of kitchen beetles

Did you use a lot of sprays and insecticides, but nothing helped you to get rid of the beetles permanently? It means you didn't follow a well-planned plan! Therefore, we will come to your aid and tell you what steps to follow and what other methods you can try.

1. Repair the broken pipes!

Kitchen beetles can live a month without food, but without water, it does not last more than a week. To deprive them of any source, do not leave any water droplets in open containers and, most importantly, do not overlook any broken pipes.

No matter how little water leaks, it is enough to feed the parasite colony that hides in the darkest places, where the plant is.

2. No crumbs!

Even a few crumbs forgotten in a corner of the table can become a source of food for kitchen beetles, so it is necessary to clean up after each meal.

3. The food is an invitation

Even if it seems to you that the slice of bread with butter left on the plate is far from the eyes and antennae of the unbearable uninvited guests, you are wrong. All you have to do is invite them to dinner. Therefore, it is advisable not to leave any unpackaged food in the kitchen.

4. Wash the dishes!

Do you think that if you leave the dishes unwashed in the sink, the beetles will make a fuss and won't come to the party? Again, you need to change your mind and your habits. Wash the dishes after every meal and the cockroaches will have no reason to go out of hiding.

5. Use coffee grounds!

Among the many utilities of coffee grounds, about which you can read more here, is the role of repellent for beetles. It seems that the acidic pH of coffee grounds is not exactly to the taste of the parasites.

6. The laurel is not just a spice

The laurel is indispensable in the kitchen of a housewife who cooks frequently, giving the food a special aroma. This time, however, we suggest you use it to keep beetles away from your closets.

All you have to do is crush some leaves and put them in an open container or leave them whole and hang them in a corner of the closet. It is their aroma that will keep the parasites at bay.

7. Sugar and boric acid

Sugar is a delicious dessert for beetles, but if you add boric acid in addition to it, they will certainly not have much time to enjoy the delicacy.

All you have to do is buy a little boric acid from a store that specializes in selling insecticides, which are sold in powder form. Mix three parts of this substance with one part sugar and you will get a poison that will get rid of the kitchen beetles if you sprinkle it around the corners.

Careful! Make sure that pets and small children do not have access to the respective areas!

8. Homemade trap

You can make a homemade trap yourself to get rid of some of the unwanted guests. You need a two-liter plastic bottle with water and a piece of household soap.

First, cut the top of the bottle (about a quarter of the distance from the mouth) and position it upside down in what is left of the container. Fill the container with warm water, put a piece of soap, and let it melt.

Then, leave the bottle in a place where you know the beetles are passing, and the trap will do its job: they will try to drink water, but they will only drown in the liquid.

9. Throw away the garbage!

Make sure there is not too much food in the trash and use a small, covered trash can to prevent parasites from entering. It is also advisable to take the bag to the dumpster once every two days so that the food does not remain for too long at the discretion of the uninvited guests.
