How I Found Flexible, Part Time Work From Home Jobs That Pay Well

Are part time work from home jobs just a fairytale? Keep reading and find out…

By Marie GrovePublished 9 months ago 3 min read

Once upon a time, I owned a restaurant / bar. I was skeptical from the start. I had never worked in a restaurant before and I knew nothing about running one. It’s a long story as to why we even considered this, but my husband insisted.

What a nightmare. I was completely unqualified, I blame my ex-husband. But I learned 2 things from that experience: one was that I was never going to put my financial future at risk by taking on so much debt and overhead. And 2, I wanted the freedom of working from home online.

In theory I liked the flexibility of working from home. I just needed to see if I could actually make that happen.

I was tired of juggling everything: a full schedule, errands, family life, and trying to find time for myself. Added to that the drive to and from work each day just became too much to handle.

What I really needed was a way to earn extra income without giving up all my time which meant something part-time, online, and flexible.

Sound familiar?

I didn’t think it was possible... until I started to dig in and realized once you get past the fluff and the hype, there are opportunities for jobs online that could give me what I want.

The Seemingly Endless Search

I spent weeks scrolling through job sites. Was it really so hard to find part time work from home jobs? Well, apparently, yes.

I searched and searched and found lots of:

  • Scams
  • Full-time availability
  • And some just didn’t feel right, they were vague, poorly written, or promised way too much. I clicked away from those A.S.A.P.!

It felt like finding a needle in a haystack.

What Finally Worked

Eventually I stumbled across true part time work from home jobs that were just what I was looking for. They allowed me to work a few hours each day, on my laptop, answering customer questions for an e-commerce company.

I liked it because:

  • There were no phone calls
  • I didn’t need prior experience
  • The training was included

And the best part? I got to set my own schedule

It paid around $18/hour to start and turned into a really nice side income that gave me plenty of extra cash, and time, to do the things that really matter to me.

Other Part Time Work From Home Jobs I Found

The live chat job was just what I wanted, but it’s not the only legitimate online job available.

Depending on your goals and your skills you have other options.

Some other ideas that may be a better fit for you:

  • Virtual assistant work (great if you’re organized, not so much for me 🤫)
  • Transcription (for fast typists)
  • Freelance writing
  • Pinterest VA (helping bloggers schedule content)

The key is to find something that fits your skills, schedule, and lifestyle, not just what pays the most.

And, of course, if you’re adding this job to your overall income and already have a full time or part time job, flexibility to work around your other jobs, as well as your other responsibilities, will be another important thing to keep in mind.
