Friendship

Every Memory

By Federal ManPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Tom and Jey had been the best of friends for as long as they could remember. They had grown up together in the same neighborhood, played in the same parks, and attended the same school. They had shared everything with each other, from their toys to their deepest secrets. They were so close that people often mistook them for brothers.

Their friendship had survived through thick and thin. They had faced many challenges together, including bullying, academic pressures, and family problems. But they always had each other's backs. They were a dynamic duo, complementing each other's strengths and weaknesses.

Tom was the outgoing one, always eager to make new friends and try new things. He had a contagious enthusiasm that drew people to him. Jey, on the other hand, was the more reserved one, preferring to observe and reflect before making a move. He was the steady force that grounded Tom's impulsiveness.

One summer, when they were both sixteen, they decided to embark on a grand adventure. They had heard about a legendary lake deep in the forest, said to be home to the biggest fish in the world. They had never been camping before, but they were determined to find the lake and catch the fish.

They spent weeks planning their trip, studying maps, gathering supplies, and practicing their fishing skills. They were both excited and nervous, knowing that they were venturing into the unknown.

When the day of their departure arrived, they hugged their families goodbye and set off on their bicycles, with a tent and a fishing rod strapped to each bike. They had a vague idea of where the lake was, but they were prepared to explore and take detours if necessary.

The first few days of their journey were easy, as they followed the familiar roads out of the city and into the countryside. They passed through fields of wheat, sunflowers, and corn, and watched the sunset over the hills.

But as they entered the forest, the terrain became rougher, the air thicker, and the path less clear. They had to push their bikes up steep hills, navigate through thick underbrush, and ford streams. They encountered wild animals such as snakes, spiders, and squirrels, but also beautiful butterflies, birds, and flowers.

At night, they set up their tent under the stars, cooked simple meals over a campfire, and shared stories and jokes. They were tired but happy, feeling like pioneers.

After several days of trekking, they finally reached the vicinity of the lake. They could hear the sound of rushing water and smell the freshness of the air. They were excited to finally catch the fish that they had been dreaming of.

But as they approached the shore of the lake, they realized that something was wrong. The water was murky and frothy, and there were no signs of any fish. They walked around the lake, looking for a better spot, but found nothing.

Tom was starting to get frustrated. "This is ridiculous! We came all this way for nothing!"

Jey remained calm. "Let's not give up yet. Maybe we need to go deeper into the lake."

They got into their inflatable boat and rowed to the middle of the lake. They cast their lines and waited. Nothing happened. They tried different bait, different techniques, different spots. Still nothing.

The sun was setting, and they were about to give up when suddenly, they felt a tug on their lines. It was a big fish, the biggest they had ever seen. They pulled and reeled, struggling to bring it closer to the boat. They could hear the fish splashing and breathing heavily.

But just as they were about to net it, the fish broke free and swam away. They were disappointed but also amazed. They had come so close to catching the fish of their dreams.
