Effective Ways to Look Like a Vampire

By Tyler BakerPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Let’s first introduce what vampires are. Vampires are mythological characters that were made popular by literature and movies. These characters, as depicted, are those who have come back from the dead, and survive by drinking others’ blood and hurting them eventually.

But for many, this is a symbol of being cool and those who are fans of vampire movies even wanted to look like one. In this article, let’s check out how can you transform yourself to look like one.

How to dressing like a Vampire

Do the research and decide which type of vampire you would like to dress up as. Over the years, vampires have been thought and rethought many times and that indeed calls for research. For example, the iconic vampire as created by Bram Stroker was described as the one wearing a smart black tuxedo and gothic cape and gelled back-brushed hair.

The ones from Vampire Diaries, the Twilight series or True Blood do not look anything that iconic. They have a more modern approach and that to mostly because of the setting. Decide the kind of outfits depending upon the type of vampire you like/follow.

It is seen often (in movies) that vampires must blend in with other ‘normal people’, but we suggest you look starkly ‘vampirish’ if you are trying to dress up like a vampire intentionally.

Here are a few tips for you.

Gothic dresses inspired by the Elizabethan or Victorian-era clothing influenced the classic vampire look a lot. If you want to create a look of the vampires from the pages of history you can look up to shops like Jordash Clothing to provide you with gothic capes, ruffled shirts, gothic trousers, gothic blouses and so on. Various gothic accessories are also available online. For a modern vampire look, you can just don some dark-coloured clothing with pale makeup.

Gothic glamour is another popular style of vampire-like dressing where you just wear dark-coloured outfits with lots of lace.

Though some vampires in contemporary literature are also seen wearing bright-hued or white just to break the concept of vampires wearing only dark-hued clothing.

While men can go for a black shirt with gothic trousers, women can wear black, wine or red clothes to accentuate the vampire style even more. Instead of a tuxedo, men can also go for a black, long trench coat.

Also, make sure to have your style on point. Vampires are often described as attractive, sexy and very well dressed. Wear flowy, natural-looking clothes, preferably monochromatic and nothing too gaudy.

Vampires from the pages of fiction are fond of ornate jewellery too. They have a thing for gaudy ornaments like pewter rings, bracelets and pendants. A typical, classic vampire look would encourage some skulls or totem symbols in the form of a pentagram, the palm, the eye or other such Egyptian symbols. Go for alloys as metals like silver are known to repel vampires.

Also, make sure to grow yourself into a stunning personality. Vampires are not just about dark clothes, they are also about a smart personality that is always on-point and attractive.

What else can be done to make your look more prominent?

Get a pair of fangs, else how can you suck blood from the necks of attractive men and women? (Just kidding!) A pair of longish fangs are found in most vampire myths and stories. There is a temporary as well as a permanent solution. If you want to go the temporary way, there are caps that you can wear atop your canines which give them a longish, sharp look just like that of vampires, or just go and buy vampire teeth that you can simply glue to your teeth. The permanent one should be done under the guidance of a dentist only. In this procedure, your canines would be filed and sharpened to a point that they resemble vampire-like fangs.

Secondly, like most goths, grow your fingernails long and shape them in such a way that they look pointed.

You can also try and get yourself coloured contact lenses. Refrain from it if you are sensitive, allergic or just scared of putting lenses into your eyes.

Apart from these, the usual pale face, dark eyes and lips stand true for the vampire look as well. So, what are you waiting for? Grab the required outfits and accessories and flaunt your favourite look.
