Beautiful Story: From Dura Villas Bali to Ngurah Rai Airport

A Sweet Honeymoon Story and an Unexpected Tip

Romantic dinner at Dura Villas Bali

You know how sometimes, out of nowhere, you get this kind of job that ends up giving you not just money, but a great story too? Well, that’s exactly what happened to me a few days ago.

I got a booking to pick up some guests from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Turns out, it was a young couple from Australia, here in Bali for their honeymoon. And let me tell you, these two were legit newlyweds—not some fake "honeymooners" just looking for fun (I know what you’re thinking, haha 😆).

They were staying at Dura Villas Bali in Kerobokan, which, honestly, is a perfect choice for couples. Private pool, peaceful vibes, super romantic atmosphere—what more could you ask for? When they arrived, the villa had even prepared flowers and candles in the room. I could see how excited and happy they were.

Anyway, on our way to their honeymoon villa in Canggu, we had some casual conversation. They were surprised that I spoke English quite fluently. The guy was like, “Wow! Your English is really good!” I just smiled and said, “Yeah, I studied English during the pandemic. I had nothing else to do, so I spent every day reading English books and watching movies.”

Total lie, by the way. 😂 I actually studied English in the Philippines for a while, that’s why I can speak quite well. But hey, as long as my lies don’t hurt anyone… I think it’s a good lie. LOL.

Anyway, after that ride, they told me they felt super comfortable with me and asked if I could be their personal driver during their stay in Bali. Of course, I said yes!

We went to several cool places, but the highlight of the trip was definitely our day in Kintamani. On the way up, we played reggae music, laughed, and talked about Bali culture. They really loved the peaceful scenery. We stopped at Penelokan Viewpoint, and they were just stunned by the view of Mount Batur and Lake Batur—like literally speechless.

Then we went to Montana Del Café, one of the most beautiful cafés in Kintamani with a killer view. While we were enjoying the cool breeze and sipping hot coffee, a little bird suddenly flew into our table. The bride screamed a bit (not too loud), and the groom just laughed and said, “It’s your Bali blessing!” 😂

They even invited me to sit and drink coffee with them. It didn’t feel like I was working at all—more like I was hanging out with friends or family. I mean, how lucky am I?

Then came the final day. I drove them back to the airport, and the vibe in the car was so quiet. None of us really wanted to say goodbye. Even though we only spent a few days together, they treated me like family, not just a driver.

Right before they entered the departure gate, they hugged me and said, “Thank you so much for everything.” Then the husband slipped an envelope into my hand and said, “Just a little something for you.”

I didn’t open it right away. But once I got back to the car and opened it—boom! A generous tip inside! I smiled and said, “Thank You, Lord!” Such a beautiful surprise.

On the way home, I started thinking about everything. I’ve got so many driver friends who are still struggling to find passengers or only get short rides. I’m really grateful. And I always believe—if you work with your heart, blessings will come. That’s the lesson of the day.

And hey, whatever your job is—driver, cook, teacher, freelancer—as long as you do it with passion, the universe will reward you. Success doesn’t come to lazy people. If you stay in bed all day, the money that’s meant for you might go to someone else. So get up and chase it.

That day, I didn’t just go home with a tip—I went home with a story and new friends. And who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll meet them again when they come back to Bali. Next time, maybe I’ll tell them the truth about my English skills… or maybe not. 😄

Shout out to all my fellow money fighters! Keep hustling, keep smiling, and believe—your rezeki (blessing) is already written, you just have to go out and get it.
