An Introduction to How Thoughts Create Things
A beginner's guide to the law of attraction.

Have you ever heard of the law of attraction? If you haven't, you're in luck. If you are ready and willing, your life is about to drastically change for the better. No, this is not too good to be true. It is a very real ideology that has been practiced for thousands of years - a philosophy supported by quantum physics and by experts in various fields.
What is the Law of Attraction? (LOA)
The law of attraction is the belief that your thoughts create your reality. Those who practice a LOA lifestyle typically believe in a Universal Source as opposed to a particular religion or specific higher being. Though, it is certainly possible for people who practice a religion to live life through a LOA lens as well.
People who follow LOA do not believe in a destiny that has already been designed for them by a higher power. They believe that with every choice they make, they are paving the way for their future self and their life path. They also believe that the Universe is within them. They feel that each individual creates their current reality with their day-to-day thoughts, whether they believe it or not.
There is a process to the law of attraction that can be broken down into three fundamental steps. Ask. Believe. Receive. Sounds easy, right? Well, it's not always easy when you're trying to manifest something you want terribly or actually are in desperate need of (like more money for example).
Ask
When you ask for something, you must word it in a way that is affirmative. The words must focus on what you actually do want rather than avoiding what you don't want. Instead of saying, "Universe, I don't want to be sick anymore," you can say, "Universe, thank you for making me healthy again." (You can replace Universe with your choice of a higher power.)
Now there's a lot worth mentioning about the difference between those two statements. First, the Universe does not know language. The Universe doesn't know the word "don't," "not," "never," and other negating words. It hears what you are focusing on and the vibration of the word.
In the first statement, that is sickness, a word that is low-vibrational because it is unwanted. The Universe hears you asking for sickness with conviction. In the second statement, you are thanking the Universe for something that happened already, though, in your current reality, it didn't. You are putting yourself in the mindset of receiving because you are acting like you already have what you want. The Universe hears that you desire continued good health.
Believe
Now you may think you'll be able to fool or trick the Universe. Whether it be by rambling off meaningless affirmations or listening to calming music to bring your manifestations faster. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
You truly, whole-heartedly have to believe your ask is coming. There is no way around it. If you don't, you are introducing resistance into the vibrational mix. Thus, you will experience delays in your ask coming to you. The longer you have resistance towards a desire, the longer you will have to wait for it. It is as simple as that.
Managing Resistance
When you are feeling obsession toward a certain thought, you are living in a state of resistance. This is often the case for people who are new at actively applying LOA into their life. This can also happen with people who have been practicing LOA for years. It's simply human nature.
But for your desires to make their way into your vibrational reality, you must begin to practice a novel way of thinking and perhaps even alter your lifestyle. Resistance can happen for a few different reasons. (Note that I am using the word they so as to not affirm these statements about yourself. LOA hacks 👍🏻)
- They are so obsessed with a particular outcome of what they want to happen in their life that they are promoting feelings of lack rather than abundance.
- They don't truly want to believe in the power of LOA and don't truly believe in their hearts that the Universe will grant their desire(s).
- They are focused on manifesting so many big things at once and are demanding with their requests.
- They are not clear about what they truly want and keep sending mixed messages to the Universe.
- They put a timeline on their desires and refuse to accept anything else.
- They make terribly unrealistic requests and fail to put in any real work to achieve these goals or desires.
- They live in a low vibrational state meaning they consistently complain, put others down, are mean, or wish bad things on others.
- They are unwilling to put in the work to achieve and maintain vibrational alignment.
When we are resistant, there is only one way to lose it. For me, it means doing the inner work. Taking a moment to hit reset, get my priorities straight, love myself a little harder, and work productively on a regular basis to achieve mental clarity and contentment.
It may mean something different for you. Maybe it's working out, reading a book, cleaning, trying harder at work, putting in more time to maintain the relationships in your life, etc. We are all so magnificently diverse, and there is no one fix-it-all to eliminate the feeling of resistance in all people.
Feeling Skeptical?
You may be surprised to learn of prominent historical figures and presently famous people who lived and live by the law of attraction. People from Albert Einstein, Buddha, Steve Harvey, to Oprah, and more actively live their lives according to these principles.
Whatever you think about regarding the world inclusive of your circumstances will be made true, whether it be negative or positive. Whatever you ask for and believe you have will be done for you sooner or later.
Your desires coming to fruition are fully dependent on how much resistance you are putting out. Everyone has different beliefs and life experiences, which is why each person has wildly different life experiences. It all depends on what you believe.
If your beliefs have created and sustained a life for you that doesn't please you, it would be in your best interest to change your beliefs. You have the power to change your story, beliefs, opinions, and ideas.
I mentioned famous people like Oprah and Steve Harvey, both of which rose above poverty and homelessness despite being raised to believe a life of lack had already been planned out for them.
If you are persistent, focused, and passionate with the words and thoughts you tell yourself on a daily basis, then you can literally change any circumstance(s) in your life to align with what you believe in and wish for.
Many skeptics will say, "If the law of attraction is real, then how would there ever be enough to go around?
Receive.
Good question! When we think about success, it is very different for different people. Some may consider ultimate success as having a certain amount of money in the bank, frequent vacationing, living lavishly, etc. Others may deem success from starting and maintaining a family, engaging in non-profit work, volunteering, dedicating their life to a social cause, or pursuing a certain profession.
Or, it could be an endless combination of all of those things and more. No one has the same success story. No one wants exactly the same job, car, experiences, material things, SO, etc as you do at the same time as you do in the same place that you do. That is the beauty of the law of attraction.
I know, the concept can be tricky to make sense of at first. But yes, I am telling you that if you want something, ask for it, and expect to receive it, (while putting the necessary work in to achieve it), then the Universe will bring it or them to you.
Where to Begin
So how can we utilize energy and our life force to attract? The breath or prana enables us to attract success and positive things whilst avoiding danger and negative life experiences. Everything in our physical reality is composed of atoms which are thus energy.
We all have an inner guidance system, which some people refer to as intuition. It gives us signs, a deep feeling that sits in our gut and weighs on our chest, pushing us to do something or not to do something. Some may call it Godly wisdom, knowledge from Source, or simply thought processes gathered by the mind from previous experiences.
Alignment
This intuition lets us know the atmosphere that is aligned with our vibration. It is a consequence of what we have been putting out. Energy cannot be described. It is not good or bad, it just is. Though, it can be high vibrational or low vibrational.
This reality can be easily felt by all people having a human experience. If something doesn't feel right, then you must listen to your inner guide. This can be in relation to personal relationships in your life, a job, a party, an event, or really anything.
If something feels wrong, even if we can't figure out why we feel the way we do, we should never doubt our gut. And when you become so in touch with your emotions that you are able to almost predict what will happen, you can bet that you are becoming more aligned with your truest, highest, vibrational self.
Being in alignment with your intuition is not something that comes without consistent practice and work. I try my best to follow the mantra, "When in doubt, don't."
Sometimes people feel they are unable to tell the difference between intuition and fear. Justin Perry, law of attraction expert differentiates between fear and intuition. He believes that fear does not emit from intuitive thought, but from the ego.
And when something feels positive, it is coming from our intuition. Even when there is a heavy feeling in your spirit regarding a particular situation, the energy is always right. Each event has its own vibrational frequency, and intuition picks this up for us when we in our human vessel are unable to.
Inner Self Talk
We must realize that there is no darkness, but just the absence of light in which we may experience low-vibrational feelings.
Language leads to belief and belief leads to creation and manifestation. When we believe something on a deep subconscious level, it MUST become present in our current reality.
Our inner language and self-talk have such an imperative impact on our world, no matter our intentions. The Universe is not biased. The Universe responds to what we are putting out as it must come back to us. And since that is the case, why don't we put out what we want to happen rather than complaining about what we don't want?
Why is it regarded as typical and normal to express our fears and everything we don't want to happen and don't want more of with regular conviction? I blame the behavioral patterns that have been passed on to us for centuries and generations that evolved from a lifestyle of fight or flight.
It doesn't matter what you do, you need to do what makes you feel happy. You must follow your bliss and your happiness. When you find something that elicits bliss within you, you must take charge and follow it. You will know it's right because it feels right. You just know.
You can walk around freely with a deep knowing that you are protected by divine guidance, wrapped in a golden light. The Universe loves you and the faster you realize that and connect the dots, the sooner you will open the vortex… The sooner you will manifest your wildest desires.
When you begin to implement the law of attraction and intentional manifestations in your life, I would recommend that you start small with your requests. This is to avoid becoming discouraged if you should have trouble manifesting.
Remember that emotion is energy in motion. Remind yourself frequently and throughout your day - especially when you find yourself complaining about something trivial or overreacting to an event you are giving your power away to.
