The monsoon season brings more moisture and wind than other seasons. If your home has a leak, broken walls, or clogged drains, they can worsen during the rainy season. That is why we must thoroughly inspect these areas.

1. Roof:

Roof leaks are often caused by holes between the joints or the capping ridge. If any spot is found to be broken or to have holes, it can be repaired or replaced as soon as possible. Furthermore, if the gutter is clogged with falling leaves and trash, it can be cleaned until it becomes clogged and cannot take rainwater out in time, allowing water to drip into the roof.

2. Walls:

Rainwater can seep through a broken wall. As a result, depending on the form and extent of the break, you can repair all damaged components as soon as possible. If it is a craze or a little crack, you can cover it with impermeable cement, acrylic, or polyurethane. If the crack is larger than 1 mm in diameter or is too deep, it must be filled before adding such impermeable materials.

3. Doors & Windows:

These two causes are often responsible for leakage from doors and windows. The first are the joints between the frame and the cement wall, and the second is the gap around the frame's corner. This can be remedied by adding polyurethane sealant to it.

Furthermore, when damp, wooden doors, windows, and frames may swell, bend, or become mouldy, necessitating frequent repairs. To avoid such issues, simply use water- and moisture-resistant materials, such as SHERA plywood doors and frames from SHERA plank dealers.

4. Exterior Floors:

The patio and balcony surfaces, as well as the garden walkway, will become mossy and slippery after becoming soaked from the rain. You should still keep these floors clean for the sake of your family's welfare.

If the exterior floors are made of real wood and are often soaked from rain, they can bend, swell, rot, or become mouldy. For long-term longevity and cost effectiveness, lay the exterior floors with SHERA plywood, which is natural-looking but more resistant to weather conditions due to its world-class fiber-cement construction. SHERA plywood from SHERA plank suppliers is also low-maintenance and can last for a long time next to your building.

5. Exterior Electronic Appliances:

Check to see if the external equipment, such as wires, lights, or switches, are in proper working order. Any worn-out or rotting parts should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible; otherwise, rainwater can cause an electrical leak or short, which can be fatal.

6. Drains:

Check the drains around your house on a regular basis. Remove any fallen leaves, clay, or litter that is blocking the drains; otherwise, they will get clogged, unable to carry off rainwater in a timely manner, and will inevitably flood.

7. Garden:

Trees with big limbs near the house or parking area should be pruned because heavy rain and storms will cause them to fall over and ruin the property. If you are only starting to develop trees, make sure to build supporters to save them from collapsing or breaking quickly.

Trim the grass and trees in the garden on a regular basis to prevent venomous creatures such as snakes and scorpions from making a home there.

Only make sure to check all of the 7 areas listed above, and your home will be safe and secure during the monsoon season.
