6 Amazing New Year's Eve Party Ideas to Ring in 2022

How to Plan a New Year's Eve Party?

By Amra BeganovichPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

New Year is a time for family, friends and reflection on the previous year. Just because it's a new year doesn't mean you have to have a New Years party all over again. There are plenty of ways to keep your NYE going with little effort put in or money spent.

First of all, if you don't want to throw a party that will end up with the same drunken people, friends and family over at 2am, going around in circles saying goodbye for another year then maybe you should think about a couple ideas.

If you want to read more about my work, please visit my website Amra and Elma, which provides digital marketing agency nyc and influencer marketing agency or follow my Instagram.

At least one of them should work for your situation:

1. A pot luck-style party could be fun. Make a list of everyone you know, including friends and family members who may not come to the party but deserve an invite anyway. Ask everyone to bring a dish so you don't have to cook or clean up anything except your house which probably doesn't even need cleaning anyways since it's New Years. Plus this would allow for a wider range of flavors and dishes. If you don't think you'll have enough food, ask each guest to bring an appetizer or small dish, like a cheese platter or chips and dip.

2. Another idea might be an alcohol-free party where everyone brings (and shares) their favorite movies. This can allow for quality time with friends and family and it might be a fun way to learn about some movies you haven't seen before. If this idea doesn't have enough appeal, add wine or beer to the menu so guests can still participate in their own way.

3. If you want to throw a party that is centered around New Years but don't want to deal with all of the guests staying until the sun rises, a party "capsule" could be a good way to go. Get a large cardboard box and decorate it in New Years decorations. Fill it with everything you would need for your party over the course of eight hours, including champagne glasses, snacks, confetti poppers and noisemakers. Start the countdown clock at eight pm and allow your guests to come in, enjoy the party for five or six hours then leave. You will have to clean up, but you didn't have to deal with drunk people all night long.

4. Another idea is to ask your guests to bring their sleeping bags or blankets and spend the night. Start a movie marathon that will end at sunrise with the viewing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (or other cheesy cult classic). If you want something less R rated, try watching festive holiday movies like A Muppet's Christmas Carol (again, other cheesy holiday movie).

5. If you want to go out on New Years, or feel like having a party until 4 or 5 am there are some other great ideas. Ask people to wear costumes, even if they're simple ones like hats and funny glasses (ironically enough). After all it is the end of the year! Put on music that everyone knows the songs too, so everyone has something to sing along with.

6. If you are throwing a New Years Eve party where alcohol will be present, try an open bar to make your life easier. If not, try a potluck-style party or an alcohol-free night of movies and board games. Think outside the box and you will be sure to come up with something they 'll remember for years to come.

Whatever you decide, don't forget to have fun and enjoy new chapter in your life!
