15 Easy Ways That Will Help You To Stop Being Shy And Awkward.

We live in a world where being outgoing and being social is the thing to do.

You know, it's not your fault you're shy and awkward. It might have been a case of bad parenting or an unfair schooling system that never taught you how to be more confident, but either way it's not a crime to want to change the situation. Here are a few tips for starting on your journey from shy and awkward to confident and powerful:

1. Go For A Walk On Your Own.

This is a great way to start building your confidence as well as get familiar with the place and how to use the public transport. People will think you're weird and usually, it's because of their own awkwardness that makes them think like that. It's not you, it's them, so smile and accept their rude comments about you being weird! I'm sure you'll learn something from this experience.

2. Hang Out With Friends Or Make New Ones That Make You Feel Comfortable.

3. Try New Things In Life To Do With Your Friends That You Haven't Done Before.

It would be boring if only people are doing what they always do. The key is to try new things. It could be a sport or an art class or simply going to work! First, make a list of things you always wanted to do that requires an interaction with other people. Then, I want you to try it at least once in your life. My ultimate goal here is for you to feel confident and comfortable with your own company and enjoying yourself in the process.

4. Don't Hide Your Mistakes That People Will Point Out.

I know it's hard for you when people point out your mistakes, but if you keep hiding them or deny what they are saying, this will lead to even worse situations and people won't respect you neither look up on you. It's good to learn from your mistakes but also good to accept them and know you can improve. People will still make mistakes at least once in their lives, so don't be ashamed of it or try to hide it.

5. Be Yourself And Don't Care About The Opinion Of Others.

No matter what people think, be open-minded and positive about yourself. It's all about how you feel about yourself and how confident you are in your own skin. Otherwise, why would you even bother changing something that doesn't affect your personality? This is not a way to get popular by being fake and pretending to be someone else. Instead, it's a way to be yourself and enjoy what you like to do.

6. Know Yourself And Your Strengths And Weaknesses.

Know why you feel nervous and what you can do to overcome it step by step with your list of goals. This is something I always try to do when I feel my confidence falters, because then I know what to work on first and improve my weaknesses along the way. It's not about feeling confident all the time, but knowing how you can get there from point A (your current situation) and ultimately point B (your goal in mind).

7. Exercise To Raise Your Mood And Boost Your Confidence.

Exercise is a natural way to boost your self-confidence, because when you're in shape, you're more aware of your body and how it moves. You will also be more motivated to try new things, as well as see all the results in the process. For example, you can start with a simple 10-minute daily walk around the neighborhood or local park and work on your fitness level up until you are ready to run 10km with ease. Just start with small measurable goals that will benefit your fitness progress overall.

8. Smile More Often And Don't Criticize Others For The Way They Look Or Act.

Believe me, if you have a smile on your face, you'll be much more confident in your own self and all the problems that could have been solved without confrontation. When you're nice to people, they will be nice to you and will start treating you like a real live person instead of just a weirdo. Again, it's not about being fake or pretending to be something else. It's about being yourself and being genuine with your friends.

9. Practice Being More Positive And Appealing To Get What You Want In Life - With Or Without Kindness (Not In A Mean Way).

A negative and judgmental mind is one that will never get further in life and bring happiness only misery with it. However, when you are positive and open-minded about life, you will find it much easier to establish solid friendships that last for a long period of time.

This is a must for anyone who wants to be confident and increase you self-esteem.

10. Try Saying "I'm Sorry" When You Make Mistakes Or Feel Insulted.

This will not only help you feel better when you are feeling offended, but it will also make sure people don't feel like they have to attack or hurt you with harsh words in return. This is just a way to start being less defensive and really try to establish positive relationships with the people around you. Not only will you be happier and more satisfied in life, but the people around you will enjoy your company even more, which means they see you as a genuine person who deserves to be considered.

11. Don't Be Afraid To Ask For Help When You Can't Do Something On Your Own.

Just remember it's much better to ask for help than letting other people lift you down by making fun of how incompetent you are in life. Try asking for help when you're lost or with an important task at work that requires attention to detail instead of trying to figure it out when no one is looking.

12. When You Do Get Help From Someone, Accept It With A Thank You.

Always remember to say "Thank you" in response to the help you receive from someone else. Otherwise, they will think you are rude and not a genuine person, which will obviously lead to a decline in your confidence levels. Be polite and don't just take help for granted!

13. Don't Take Criticism As An Insult And Reflect On What You Can Improve About Yourself.

Criticism can be a good thing if you are able to learn something from it and use this as an opportunity to make yourself better. It's not always about taking criticism as the end all and be all of your life. For example, if someone tells you you don't have the guts to run a marathon, they may be right or they may also want to see you try your best next time. In this case, just reflect on what is right or wrong with yourself first before trying again later in life.

14. Don't Be Afraid To Stand Up For Yourself And Don't Take Offense When Someone Gets Mean Or Annoys You.

If someone gets mean or upset with you, it's not always your fault and they are just being defensive because they feel threatened in some way. Don't take any of that as an insult, even if they are seemingly harsh to you! This is a natural reaction when someone feels threatened by you.

If someone becomes angry and threatens to hurt you (physically), this is not you trying to be mean or evil! They are just offended and are defending what's theirs so don't take offense for this!

15. Always Remember You Can Do And Accomplish Whatever You Set Your Mind To.

If you are confident in what you want to do, you can do anything! You'll be a lot more motivated and inspired to push forward with your goals as well. Never feel like you can't do something and never give up, because if you want it, and work hard for it, then you will accomplish your goal no matter what!

In Conclusion

Self-confidence is definitely something you can learn. Self-confidence is all about believing in yourself, because you are worth it! You are worth everything and anything in this world and if anyone ever tells you otherwise, then they don't know how awesome and wonderful you really are.

You can change your life for the better by simply committing to these steps to improving your self-confidence. Try out the tips above and see what works for you and what doesn't. Be honest with yourself about how you feel and don't over analyze things because no one will do it for you. Take back control of your mind with positive affirmations, meditation or exercise if that helps make your confidence stronger as well.
