10 ways for students to earn extra money while on summer break at home

How else will you spend your free time this summer?

By Phoenix Daily ConspiraciesPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

It makes sense to attempt to use that time wisely when summer arrives and you're faced with the lovely reality of endless weeks in the sunshine (OK, wishful thinking), instead of lectures and homework. You might even be able to make some money in the process to have an even better summer.

The student discount app, www.studentbeans.com, has graciously provided some top suggestions for students wishing to make their bank balance look a little bit better this summer.

1. Offer some items for sale

If you no longer need or use something, whether it be clothing, shoes, technology, furniture, or antiquities, why not try to sell it? One man's garbage is another man's treasure, as they say, right? There are many websites where you can sell your items, or you may hold a car boot sale with your friends to compete to see who can make the most money.

2. Clean vehicles

You'd think we might see some pleasant weather throughout the summer, but given that we are in England, who knows? Why not propose to wash a few additional dollars' worth of automobiles for friends or family members? You may do it in the convenience of your own driveway and even offer to wash the cars of your nearby neighbours. You'll be astonished by how many individuals are willing to pay prices lower than those at a typical manual car wash! Start scrubbing.

3. Work tasks

Why not volunteer to help out around the house if you are spending the summer living at home with your parents? Your parents may even be willing to pay you for some of the more difficult tasks, like cleaning out the garden, garage, or loft, since they will likely appreciate the extra assistance they have been missing out on while you have been away at school.

4. Take up a second job or a summer internship.

During the summer, bar and waitressing jobs are frequently available, ensuring that you not only have a reliable source of income but also a chance of receiving generous tips. Why not take a paid summer internship or other temporary work into consideration as well? Finding one that is linked to your degree is a plus because you may continue learning over the summer while earning extra money. You never know; it might result in additional work experience down the road or possibly a job when your degree is complete.

5. Walking and pet-sitting

Nowadays, you can discover dogs that you can walk or watch over while the owner is at work or away on a variety of applications and websites. You get the best of both worlds here if you truly want a dog but don't have a family dog (and they don't plan on obtaining one). You can stroll and spoil your four-legged buddy without being tied down by a commitment when you return to school. Try dog walking if dog sitting isn't your thing. By assisting local dog owners, you can earn a respectable little income while getting a little exercise.

6.Surveys

Get paid to complete online surveys while lounging in the comfort of your own home. Many research organisations are looking for volunteers to participate in surveys or test out new items. The payment per survey may not seem like much at first (it is typically expressed in pennies rather than pounds), but as you complete more of them and do so more quickly, you will soon start to see the money accumulate.

7. Blogs that use affiliate links

You could begin a blog about everything you adore, or you could even create your own Instagram or Facebook page. For instance, if you wanted to start a fashion blog and earn some money, you might join an affiliate network that would allow you to create unique links for different merchants or products to include on your site. You might receive a commission in the form of a percentage of the purchase price if any of your readers choose to follow the link and make a purchase. Some people have developed their blogs and websites to the point that they are now making a lot of money from their affiliate connections.

8. Watching children

Have you have any younger siblings or brothers? perhaps nieces and nephews? Offer your services as a babysitter if you want to make some extra money over the summer. You won't go out and spend money, and your friends or family will have a night off from watching the kids. Ideally, the children won't cause too much difficulty, but even if they do, the expense should be justified.

9. Take part in free contests

Why not give entering some online competitions a try? There are in fact persons, referred to as "career compers," who live solely off of the prizes they win in contests. Although it would be ideal, doing that requires a full-time job; yet, there is no harm in participating in a few free events each day, especially if they have large cash awards. Never say never—you might just strike it lucky and win big!
