Writers Work on Personal Newsletter Right Now
A newsletter is a lifesaver for writers.
A newsletter is a lifesaver for writers.
To save your hard work and effort in the long run, I believe that a newsletter is the only method.
Starting a business from scratch and taking it to the level where you want to see it and then losing it all suddenly due to some reasons. Didn’t it sound so scary? Yes, it does.
This happens in the online world. Why this happens and how to avoid such trouble is what I am discussing in this post. So read! Because you need this.
Ok, first let me share some real scenarios with you so that you better understand why I am writing this post.
UpWork story
You start as a freelance writer, you do your best, you work day and night to get the project, you work hard to build a portfolio, you work hard to maintain your rating, you work hard to maintain your income stream, and then suddenly one day, due to some reason, your account got suspended permanently. You tried your best to explain to the support team and reach out to them, but nothing worked.
Where do your years of effort go? It’s wasted just in a second.
This happened with someone, I know. This is not only one story; people are complaining extensively on LinkedIn about UpWork. Go and explore by yourself.
LinkedIn story
A couple of days ago, people were talking about one of the biggest LinkedIn creators whose account got suspended on LinkedIn.
I do not have much knowledge about the creator, but a couple of posts popped up on my feed, and the people were just saying that to safeguard efforts, everyone must work on the newsletter.
And luckily I was a believer in this concept even before knowing this scenario. I learned the importance of newsletters from my experience. This scenario makes me even more concerned about the newsletter.
Medium story
I read many stories on Medium from people whose accounts got suspended, MPPs were revoked, or many more.
Though such actions from the platform side surely be taken for some reason but sometimes things happen due to robotic misunderstanding as well (I know an UpWork case). Sometimes things don’t work. It would be a long debate, so I am not getting into that.
How can a newsletter be safe if nothing is?
Now, the question is, if nothing is safe, then the email newsletter could be. Believe me, it is.
Because this is the only way to keep your audience, clients, readers, or whatever you can say engaged with you. More concisely and clearly, you can say that you can keep your audience in your pocket this way.
The maximum you can lose is a subscriber or a couple of subscribers when they unsubscribe from your newsletter. But it is just like if at the moment you lose your two followers, the next moment you gain 10 new followers as well.
Even if you’re starting with the Substack newsletter, you have a concerning question: Substack is also a third-party platform, and you might be kicked out from there too. Even if this happens, you are still secure because you own your email list.
So to save your hard work and effort for the long run, I believe that a newsletter is the only method. It is very important for every writer, or in fact for every person who is working online, to keep his/her audience or effort in their pocket.
Thanks for reading! Officially published on Medium under my belt.
