Why Paris isn't great anymore?

A true story that really happened

By Dory StoryPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

The day started out like any other day on holiday in Paris, France. My boyfriend and I were walking down the street, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. The sun was shining, and we were feeling excited to explore all that Paris had to offer. But then, without warning, the skies darkened, and the rain started to fall.

At first, we tried to make our way to a nearby café or shop to take shelter, but the rain was coming down so hard that every place we tried was already filled to capacity. We were getting wetter and wetter, and our spirits were starting to drop.

Just when we thought things couldn't get any worse, we stumbled upon a basement restaurant. We rushed inside, eager to escape the rain, but soon realized that our new hiding spot wasn't exactly safe. The water was coming into the restaurant, and the manager was starting to get nervous. He told us we had to leave, as the restaurant was becoming too dangerous. The water started to touch the electricity cable and it wasn’t safe for us.

We were forced to take off our shoes and wade through the water back out into the rain. The streets were flooded, and we could barely see where we were going. We trudged on, trying to find our way to the nearest metro station. But when we got there, we found out that the trains had stopped running due to the severe weather.

We were completely soaked and starting to feel hopeless. But then, we remembered that there was a higher point in Paris where we could catch a metro. We set off, walking through the rain, our shoes in our hands.

Finally, we made it to the higher part of the city, and we were able to catch a metro and make our way home. We were wet, tired, and a little discouraged, but we were safe and sound.

We decided to warm up and treat ourselves to a nice meal. Near home, we found a small Chinese restaurant and ordered a bowl of miso soup. It was the best thing we had ever tasted. We sat there, sipping our soup and feeling grateful that we are safe and that we had a warm meal in our bellies.

Despite the worst day ever in Paris, we ended up having a memorable and enjoyable time. We laughed about the experience, and we were grateful for the food and shelter that we had. In the end, the worst day ever turned into one of the most memorable experiences of our lives.

In conclusion, the holiday in Paris, France was not what I had hoped it would be. Despite the beautiful sights and sounds of the city, I was disappointed by the crowds and the danger of pickpockets. On top of that, the rainy day was a complete disaster, and we were forced to walk through the flooded streets, trying to find a safe place to take shelter.

However, I must acknowledge that Paris has many charms and is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but for a regular tourist like me, it can be overwhelming. The museums were packed with people, and it was nearly impossible to enjoy the artwork. The streets were crowded, and I felt like I was constantly on guard, protecting myself from pickpockets.

I believe that Paris would be a much more enjoyable experience if we were VIPs and stayed at a fancy hotel, away from the crowds and with access to a more comfortable and safe experience. But for a regular tourist like me, the city can be overwhelming and not as enjoyable as I had hoped.

In the end, I must say that Paris is not for everyone. While it may be a beautiful city with a rich history and culture, it can also be a challenging and overwhelming experience for the average tourist. And so, I have decided that I don't think I want to visit Paris again anytime soon.
