From photography, to making clothes, to home decor, to making t-shirts, to doing hair, I love it all. Art of any form is something I've always loved since I was little.
When I was nine, I had surgeries on both my feet. Being in the wheelchair or not, I always had a camera in my hands and was always too excited to take the film to get developed which was the best part. Since I couldn't do much, the one thing I could do successfully in the wheelchair was anything art related. Fasting forward to high school, releasing my art tendencies was much needed. Before I had my surgeries, I learned how to sew clothes shortly before. My mother made my sister's and I clothes when I was younger so I was bound to learn how to sew sooner than later. This really helped me because I got to show off my skill set in high school when it came to making a tote bag I made my freshman year or a formal outfit I made that I still have to this day twelve years later. It reminds me of
I moved to a new city my sophomore year in high school and I took a ceramics class and loved every bit of it. It was my first time actually making something out of clay and getting it put in a kiln and seeing the results days later. Now that I'm in my 20s, I still love art more than ever. I started out making candles in late 2016 and fasting forward to now is a huge difference. My business consist of home decor (coasters, wall art, trays, signs, etc.), t-shirts, makeup bags, etc. I've been stuttering since I was 6 so communicating in certain situations is never easy for me. I couldn't do presentations in school. I didn't get certain jobs because of it. People always hang up the phone or says it's a bad connection. Til this day, people (mainly adults) still laugh in my face when I'm trying to speak.
I love to help people and my shirts are my way of helping others. I have so much I want and need to say. I can't but my shirts can. I love every part of the process. From designing it on my laptop, to cutting out the design with my cricut, to putting it on a shirt, to hearing or reading feedback from my customers how much they love it. I had an event in May and I was talking with a customer and it was so difficult. I ending up telling her I love to help people but I didn't know what my purpose was being that I can't speak clearly most of the time. She bought a blessed shirt and another item. When I was packing up and leaving, she told me that this is my purpose and to don't stop.
Out of all the things I learned to make or do, making shirts is my favorite thing right now. They're my thoughts on a shirt. I started out making these with my mother and we have so much fun with it. I just grab my laptop, my cricut, my cricut scissors and weeder, vinyl, and my heat press and get to making shirts. Many of my items are Christian based, something funny to brighten someone's day, or something that will help a person who needs a daily reminder. I love that my shirts can help others and I absolutely love creating them. I still have all my drawings and ceramics that I made in high school when I was fifteen. I love looking back and seeing where I started, it reminds me of how much I progressed in my art. There is so much I cannot wait to create.
