(Re posted from my other blog site)
Now, remember I was talking about a bag. Your purse is not going to cut it anymore. Depending on if you have an ileostomy bag or some other device you’re going to want to carry a bag, let’s face it your friends won’t be around all the time to carry your stuff. I have a cheap blue bag I got from the hospital that I carry my purse in as well as a blue folder with all my medical papers in it. I also use to carry when I was doing the port meds, my iPad, phone charger, and headphones. Not to mention drink, snacks (yes you can have the. In the chemo room, or mine did at least remember room temperature is your friend) I even put a coloring book, eye mask, and earplugs in case I got sleepy. I still carry my iPad for journaling at doctor’s appointments. Also, the perfume will be your best friend. I am a big believer in aromatherapy. Also, carry wash clothes. You might need powder don’t use talcum use all-natural antifungal for heat and sweat.
Aromatherapy huh? Yes it works. Peppermint for nausea and headaches. Lavender for sleep and calm. If you have an ileostomy bag or a colostomy bag find a perfume you love and carry it for the burping process. I use Dior poison girl. Also aloe is wonderful for the dry skin. I use a hemp seed chap stick you will have some dry lips. Aloe is great too what ever you use make sure you have spf in it. Yes I know with a mask on the sun, trust me you still need spf. I don’t wear make up with the chemo medicine because it just felt clogged. I have tried a few different types nothing felt right on my face. That might be different for you. Also if your into making your own scrubs there are a lot of different recipes out there peppermint is great for energy to get you moving. Also those pretty manicures with fake nails, yeah I am sorry to say you will be cutting your own nails, the chemicals at the nail salons are not good for you at this time. The fake nails will have to come off due to the chemicals and well at least for me my nails grew really fast.
Okay now on to clothes. Here is the fun part. Tight clothes not going to help in healing. Sweat pants, baggy clothes ; shirts and pants will help. If your going to stay home (which you should due to your Immune system being messed up) get comfortable pj or sleep attire, but keep in mind of nausea and diarrhea. I bought some cancer warrior shirts as well as a few cowden syndrome items too from amazon (I will put the links on another page) Your a cancer warrior and a survivor flaunt it!
Exercise seriously? Yes deadly serious. If I have learned anything from the surgery you need to be up and moving. When I was in the hospital I didn’t want to do anything , and that feeling was horrible. Having them change me every time I got sick or wet the bed, was a feeling I didn’t like. You have to move. Even if it is to stand (have someone with you while doing this)walk around for a few mins (again with someone)there are different organizations that can help with this. I will put the link on the other page. Moving is a very important when I didn’t move in the hospital I started going down hill. They put an airboat on me(not comfortable)and I had to have this bag on me. Please move. There are apps hat can help. Again Apple I am sure android has something same as Fitbit but this is for Apple. No I don’t support Nike but if that’s the type of watch you have that’s okay, these apps will work with it too.
Apple Watch -I have a series 6 with my fall protection on. Leave it on because of this. I have fallen before it’s a life saver! With cellular or gps.
Lose it appCarrot app- you get coins for walking and well you cash them for itemschallenge app (it ties with the loose it app)
Duffy app for steps
Under armor record- helps with different exercises
Under armor mapmyfitness- maps where you walk
Relive – it shows a 3d likeness of where you go
Hidrate- you have to purchase this bottle for it to work but it will remind you to drink. It helps a lot you don’t want to be dehydrated especially if you love tech as much as I do.
I also joined a few groups outside of Facebook and to be honest I am glad I did. All the links will be on the mentions page. The first one was fitsteps for life. It’s like a gym but on a smaller scale they are extremely awesome the worker will help you plan on where you want to get in life as well as motive you. When I first started there I was scared because I was on a cane but it gave me the motivation to get off the cane. The next one is shine therapy. Omg these people are amazing!!! They specialize in massage for cancer patients only.
I hope this helps again this what helped me. I am again reposting this from my other blog site. I am giving all permissions to use this blog.
