Set In Order focuses on the development of efficient storage solutions that make it easy for objects to be identified, stored, and found. Only after Sort has cleared the area of unnecessary items can Set In Order be applied.
3. Shine
Next, clean up the work site after all clutter has been removed and any remaining items have been arranged. Regular follow-up maintenance is necessary to keep the progress being made. Clean workspaces are a good place to spot equipment problems such as shocks and leakage.
4. Standardize
Standardization makes 5S different from regular cleaning jobs. Everything that has happened recently is now routineized and the occasional initiatives are no longer a novelty. These processes can be made habitual by standardizing regular tasks, creating schedules, and displaying instructions. To ensure order, it establishes 5S operating procedures.
