Last year, I quit Vocal, and I had no intention of coming back to the platform however, something happened a few months back. I received an affiliate sale, I had totally forgotten about this affiliate platform but it was nice to receive this notification.

It was only a few dollars, but I made that money in my sleep and I didn’t have to create the product or force anyone to purchase it.

When I checked my analytics, I discovered that the sale came from Vocal Media, and after scrolling through my old articles. I noticed that I had included affiliate links into several articles over the past few years.

Great!

“Should I go back to Vocal?”

Is it worth it?

Why not?

So, I made an effort to start writing and posting on Vocal again. After two weeks, I quit again because it felt stale, and I earned a few cents after putting in hours of work. So, I made the decision to post once a week, or whenever I had the time.

Then, a couple of weeks later, I received another affiliate sale, and a digital product sale. Again, through Vocal links. So, here I am again, but this time, I’m doing a 100 article challenge, to see what happens.

The truth is, I do want to make money, and I’m not ashamed of it. Creatives often shy away from the word money, it’s a dirty word. “True” creatives, create from the soul and they don’t care about money.

Real creatives are quite happy to be starving artists, well that’s not me. I create from the soul, but money is great, we need it to survive. Money solves problems, and relieves stress. So, yes, I want to make as much money as possible, and I want to have fun while doing it.

So, for now, I’m including Vocal in my content mix, and here’s why:

Vocal rewards you for external views

With Vocal, you get paid for external and internal views. Meaning, if readers find your content through search engines or other platforms, you still get paid, unlike platforms such as Medium where you only earn when paid members read your content.

Vocal won’t punish you for sharing affiliate links or digital product sales pages. Medium hate external links, and they’ll delete your account or demonetise you for sharing external links, or self-promoting. On Vocal, you have more freedom, and for that reason, I’ll continue posting on Vocal.

Write valuable content and it will rank on Google quickly

Vocal has a domain authority rating 81/100, which is pretty high. This means that search engines trust Vocal, and when you write value-packed content or searchable articles, you’ll rank much faster on Google and other search engines.

So right now, my plan is to create a mix of evergreen searchable content, trending content, and passion-filled content.

This means that I’ll still create content from the soul whenever I feel like it, but I’ll also focus on producing low competition, high search volume content. Meaning that, people are searching for answers however, there is less competition, and you’ll find it much easier to rank on search engines.

Right now, creators are scared of AI because they think that AI-generated content will outrank them, this is so far from the truth. This is the perfect time to create high-quality, value-packed, expert-led content. Why? Because people are banging out AI-generated content like nobody’s business, and most of it is stale and generic. Therefore, you’ll easily stump the competition by creating high-quality, detailed, human-led content.

You won't become a millionaire by relying on Vocal's partner program. However, offering digital products and services, and using Vocal as a vehicle, you can take advantage of Vocal's domain authority by producing value-packed, search-engine optimized content to attract your target buyers.
