The Young and the Restless: Avon/Demanda is not working

A number of those who watch The Young and the Restless are speaking out regarding the relationship between Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). The couple is referred to as Avon or Demanda depending on who is discussing them. The question "Is it time for Devon to start a family of his own?" was posted recently on a soap spoiler page and the following are two of the answers.

"Not with Amanda- she’s too busy starting her new business and bonding with her business partner/sister. I liked him and Elena"…

"Me too. they are trying to recreate hevon again with amanda, It is NOT WORKING."

This same sentiment is being echoed across the Internet by fans who say the chemistry is not the same between Morgan and James now that she is portraying Hilary's twin. Viewers say that the relationship seems forced and simply is not going anywhere. There is an old saying that you can't go back and clearly those who watch The Young and the Restless believe it is true. This situation, however, is not as simple as it seems because there are a number of factors that have been working against the couple.

The Young and the Restless: Hilary's shadow

Fans of The Young and the Restless enjoyed watching Hilary Curtis turn her life around, marry Devon and become pregnant with his child. Viewers were shocked when Morgan walked away from the role and her character was killed in a car crash. Time went on and Devon met Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) but their relationship was doomed because of Hilary's ghost. Elena did not want to be in the shadow of Devon's former love and ended up with Nate Hastings ( Sean Dominic).

In 2020 during the pandemic, it was being suggested that Devon and Elena might get back together because their portrayers were dating in real-time and could do love scenes. The same was said of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Sharon Newman Rosales (Sharon Case) who were dating off-screen. Neither couple has reunited and many fans were disappointed.

Devon and Amanda are in trouble

When Mishael Morgan first returned to The Young and the Restless fans were excited to have her back but now do not believe Devon and Amanda are going to work. He has been overly involved in Abby's baby drama and falling in love with Dominic who is his biological son. She has been caught up in the drama of prosecuting her grandfather Sutton Ames (Jack Landron) and building a law practice and relationship with her sister Imani Benedict (Leigh-Anne Rose). It is beginning to seem as if Devon and Amanda are two ships passing in the night and they do not have the same chemistry as he had with her twin Hilary.

This is interesting because the same actors are involved so perhaps it's just what the writers have done with the characters. Whatever the problem The Young and the Restless viewers are saying it's time to pull the plug. Earlier spoilers had said that Abby Newman Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) might come between the couple and fans spoke out that they were against this union. Nothing ever happened between the two and Chance is now returning so that option seems to be out.

Perhaps when it comes to Devon and Amanda, these two are their own worst enemies and the writers never should have tried to recreate the magic that came with Hilary. Mishael Morgan is doing a great job of portraying her former character's twin who is so different from her predecessor. Whatever the problem the fans are saying it's time to end this couple.
