The Lion, the Witch, and the Writing Schedule

Returning to Vocal Media after a break, here are the topics you can expect from me. I post new articles every day except for Sundays. Thanks for reading!

Beginning to write on Vocal Media again has stirred up a whirlwind of creativity and emotions. It has been a long time since I have been active on this platform. Primarily due to life changes and fluctuations in mental health that I will not dive into the details of here. But, after much consideration and prayer, I decided to become active again. Writing on this platform keeps me motivated and accountable for creating content, and it’s one of the things I love about Vocal. I also love the community; everyone supports each other and understands that being a benign writer is challenging, regardless of the content written.

Another thing I find helpful is clear expectations. What do I plan to write, when do I plan to write it, and how often do I plan to write it? These are all questions I ask myself as I sit down contemplating my career trajectory. I have failed on this platform in the past because of a lack of a plan and adherence to it. So, great expectations follow, and time shall only tell if they endure.

Non-Fiction

Journals: Writings based on my experiences with the world, inspirational pieces, and God’s work in me. These are my experiences with depression, anxiety, and chronic illness regarding my faith. (To my mamma, be careful; I might make you cry.)

Writing Advice: based on my research and experiences crafting stories. I’ve been a lover of words all my life. If some of the knowledge I’ve accumulated over the years can help other writers, then producing these articles is time well spent. (It’s not much, but it’s honest work.)

Fiction

Various Poetry: I am not usually a poet, but the mood strikes me every once in a while. Consider these scrap bonuses to my usual creative process. Sometimes, letting your hair down and cutting loose a verse or two is fun. (Honestly, more than a bit of cringe at times. I can rarely reread them after posting, but they are here for your enjoyment.)

Serial Chapter Stories: As soon as I develop a good idea and a regular posting schedule, I’m up for engaging the fiction engine in my brain. There is a Community here specifically for serialized pieces. I did not know that the last time I attempted such a feat, and it left me excited to try again. (I have fun writing it; I hope you enjoy reading it.)

Prompted Writings: Because I can’t always come up with the ideas myself, I will be sure to add any resources I gather under Writing Advice. These are short-form fun and not to be taken seriously; just a little bit of brain candy that helps me hone my craft. (This is where the experimental writing happens. Igor, flip the switch!)

Vocal Specific Challenge Writings: Though I am not a plus member, I will consider subscribing again if this type of writing does well. At the moment, it is not the right choice for me. ($9.99/Mo. doesn’t sound like much, but it adds up if you never win any challenges. I may be a tad salty. )

Various Prose- Because I have a lot of story ideas that beg to have their scenes written whether or not they are attached to any of my previous or current works. (This is a catch-all for the rest of my fiction.)

I aim to post a new article every day except Sundays. Generally speaking, at least 600 words daily. Depending on the length of work and intensity of the editing process, it may be longer; there you have it, the types of writing you can expect to see here and how often you can expect them.

If you have any questions or comments on the kinds of writing you would like to see me create, please send me a message below. As always, thank you for your support. Your reads mean the world to me.
