This blog post is designed to help you find your misplaced mojo...

I have been writing on another platform since 2018 in a haphazard fashion. I never could quite stick to this writing gig. I took a 2 year hiatus at one point because I was so frustrated with the whole thing.

Recently I came back to industry because I had a passion to write. I didn't know what I wanted to write - I just wanted to write content which helped people.

This blog post forms the guidebook for my next 2–3 years writing on the platform. The information contained here has been gathered from multiple sources online. I wanted to share with you 3 of the most important steps you can take as a writer, starting from today.

1. Get a mentor/coach and seek feedback

I have been in the marketing/MLM world for the past 6 years. One of the things they harp on about is getting a coach.

You'll make more sales.

You'll get more clicks to your offers.

Although they use this advice to sell you another course, the concept is fundamentally sound.

The easiest way to achieve a goal is to find someone who has already done it.

Want to make $2000 a month from writing?

Easy, find yourself a mentor!

You don't have to pay someone for this, just find a writer that aligns with your vision and goals. Personally I would recommend finding someone in your niche who has at least 2–3 solid years of writing experience.

Also make sure they are making a decent monthly income from their writing.

Ask them questions like:

  • What do you think of this post overall?
  • What suggestions do you have for me to improve this post?
  • How can I promote my content to get more page views?

Make sure you actually listen to their advice here. Be open to suggestions and feedback.

Open your mind up and position yourself to receive. Nobody likes a closed mind. It's often very difficult to grow when you close yourself off.

2. Read daily

It's amazing what you can learn when you read everyday. Studying the great and not so great gives you amazing perspective.

It also gives you ideas, plenty of ideas.

Someone suggests adding numbers in your headline?

Great do it!

Someone suggests doing keyword research?

Amazing, try it out!

Someone suggests writing 300 blog posts a year?

Give it a shot!

You don't have to look too far online to find amazing advice.

If you want to become a specialist on a topic then delve a little deeper….

Statistics show that people listen more to specialists and ignore generalists. If your looking to increase your views and page reads think about nicheing down.

You want to write about health?

Narrow it down to mental health or herbal remedies or whatever you want.

Study all you can. Become an expert by consistently consuming helpful content on the topic.

3. Just do it - write!

Experience trumps knowledge every single damn time.

If your looking to improve - just get started.

Commit to writing everyday. Immerse yourself in a sea of words.

Bob Proctor taught me that the act of repetition is the fastest way to program the subconscious. 95% of what we do on a daily basis is habitual. If you want to change your life then form a new habit.

Develop a daily schedule and write at a set time everyday. You will condition yourself to perform based on the habit you have formed. This is the fastest way to improve your overall results.

In Summary

I hope this blog post has been helpful. I have enjoyed putting this together and these steps will form the basis for all my future moves as a writer. If you follow these steps you will get yourself into a groove, and develop a laser focus.

Once you get into a daily habit of writing, nothing will stop you from your goals. Your future possibilities will be endless.

Wishing you the very best for your journey!
