When I was a teenager I use to go visit my grandmother for two weeks during the summer and she taught me how to paint with acrylics. I loved doing that but also she used to make knitted hats. She had a knitting machine. Boy this thing was huge. It took up most of the living room. I wanted to learn how to do that and so she gave me knitting needles. She showed me how to do two stitches and those were knit and purl. I was trying to make a blanket but it turned out to be a pot holder. I also thought it took too long to do that so I gave it up.
Then one day in April of 2013 I found loom knitting and I haven’t looked back. My name is Colorful Warmth Creations. The reason why I picked that name is because I make homemade loom knitted items that are warm and colorful as well. I also have a Facebook page by the same name. Reason for the Facebook page was so I could have everything that I have made or going to make all in one place.
I started out with making hats but I was getting tired of making them and I wanted to learn something different and then I found the 10 stitch pattern. I had to have a lot of help with the pattern because I didn't understand the instructions. I am very thankful to a lady from a loom knitting group; she helped me every step of the way. Once I was done with the 10 stitch pattern I fell in love with the blanket.
The blankets did two things for me and that was the blanket kept me warm while I was making it and the second was I wanted to make people smile and feel special. I call it research but really it isn’t: I ask the person that wants a blanket made what color or colors they would like.
So far I have had 100% happiness with the blankets. When I make a blanket for someone I don’t post any pictures of the blanket until that person that I made the blanket for has seen their blanket first. I also ask them to send me a message telling me when they get their blankets so I then can go ahead and put the pictures in an album that I had created on my Facebook page.
The blanket in the picture is made with Caron Yarn. The color is Peacock. This blanket was also made on a 1/2" 50 peg CindWood Loom. This is my very first CindWood Loom and I love it. I bought this loom because a friend wanted me to make her daughter a blanket that had a tighter stitch. Well I was very excited when this loom got here. I started right away on her blanket. It usually takes me about a month from start to finish. What I mean by finish is taken off the loom. Once this blanket is all finished I wash and dry the blanket and then I lay it out on my bed so I can measure it and take a picture of the blanket and then I get the box ready to mail it out. I usually try to mail them out in the middle of the week so that way you can have the blanket for the weekend.
I also think that the blanket in the picture is my favorite blanket that I have made so far to date. Right now I am working on a blanket and I call this one pink tones. This blanket is going to be for her other daughter. I have made a blanket for everyone in her family. It started with her blanket, and then she wanted me to make one for each of her grandsons, then her daughter. Then she wanted me to make two blankets, one for her mom and one for her dad, and then the pink tones is for her second daughter. After the pink tones blanket, I am not sure if she will want me to make another blanket or not.
If not that is OK because then I will be able to start making blankets and building an inventory. Then I can make an album and call it For Sale and then put those blankets in there and people can go and look at the blankets and choose the one that they want and buy it.
Here is the families blankets. I am calling them First Family of Blankets. The missing blanket is the pink tones, because, one, it isn't finished and second, the person I am making it for hasn't seen it. If anyone likes what they see please don't hesitate to go to my Facebook page Colorful Warmth Creations and leave a message.
