T1 Advance to MSI 2025 Final

T1 are headed back to the top of the League of Legends world — and back into the fire against Gen.G, the team that narrowly sent them down just days ago.

On Friday night at the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) in Vancouver, Canada, T1 secured their spot in the MSI final with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Anyone’s Legend, surviving a tense lower bracket clash and setting up a must-watch championship showdown against their LCK rivals Gen.G.

This will be T1's second meeting with Gen.G at MSI 2025, and this time, a title and a berth at the League of Legends World Championship 2025 are both on the line.

A Revenge Match Years in the Making

T1’s journey to the grand final wasn’t smooth. After falling 3-2 to Gen.G in the upper bracket final, they were forced into a do-or-die match against China’s Anyone’s Legend, a team that had been exceeding expectations throughout the tournament.

The Friday night lower bracket final followed a similar script — tight games, brilliant individual performances, and plenty of back-and-forth between the teams. Each of the first four games was won by the blue side, with the two squads trading blows until the final game.

Unlike their previous series, T1 came out on top in Game 5, breaking the side-select trend by winning on red side in 29 minutes and punching their ticket to the MSI 2025 finals.

Gumayusi Shines in Clutch Moments

The star of the night for T1 was Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, who delivered a series MVP-worthy performance. The South Korean bot laner finished the series with 32 kills, 8 deaths, and 27 assists — including a flawless 15/0/12 KDA in Game 5. His aggressive positioning and clinical teamfighting gave T1 the edge when it mattered most.

Meanwhile, China’s Wang “Hope” Jie did his best to keep Anyone’s Legend in the fight, ending the series with a 21/12/19 statline, but it wasn’t quite enough.

Anyone’s Legend walk away with their heads held high and $240,000 in prize money for their third-place finish — an impressive run that few predicted when the MSI 2025 schedule was first released.

T1 vs Gen.G: The Final Chapter at MSI 2025

Now, it all comes down to Saturday’s final: a battle between the two giants of the LCK, with a massive $500,000 top prize and automatic qualification for Worlds 2025 on the line.

This is the first time since 2017 that T1 has made it to the MSI finals, and after losing to Gen.G earlier in the bracket, they’ll be looking for revenge and redemption. Gen.G, meanwhile, are hoping to defend their MSI crown and solidify their place as the most dominant team in the world right now.

Both squads have had impressive runs, showcasing exceptional adaptability in the Fearless Draft format, where previously used champions are banned for the rest of the series — leading to deeper champion pools and more creative strategies.
