If you’re struggling to make sales, or fighting to make your first sale online. Low ticket ebooks might save your life.

When you think of low ticket, you think terrible quality right? Well, not always.

A $7 ebook is just the start. Think of it as a stepping stone to greater things.

I’ve published many ebooks over the years, and the first book I published was a $6.99 e-guide about blogging.

I sold 1000 copies of this book, bagging a cool $6000 from that tiny ebook. Yes, I could have made much more by pricing it higher, but it was my first ebook, and I wanted to test the waters.

Once I hit my first 1000 sales, I increased my prices, and my income shot through the roof.

This method is good because you build trust without giving your product away for free. You earn money, build confidence, and grow your community at the same time. It’s a win win!

If you’re starting out, I would recommend Gumroad because it’s the easiest platform to use in my opinion. It’s free, and simple to set up.

Seriously, this is a great way to make your first few dollars online.

Don’t sniff at it, you’ll thank me when you see that first notification!

Here’s my latest $7 ebook. It’s usually $15, but I’ve put it up for $7 for the purpose of this article.

Here are 5 ways to increase your Gumroad digital product sales:

Gumroad Marketplace

Gumroad has a marketplace, meaning your products gain more visibility when you categorize them correctly. Gumroad’s algorithm will market your products for you, therefore, you’ll receive sales over time when you place your products in the correct category.

Post articles on Gumroad

Gumroad has a blogging feature. Most creators ignore this feature, but it’s an effective way to boost your search engine rankings.

Create “how to” content and “why to” content. These are both highly searchable, meaning that when someone searches:

“How to promote my blog using Pinterest” your article might show up on the search engines. This will boost visibility and increase sales in the long run.

Affiliates

Gumroad also has an affiliate feature. This is great because creators can build a team of affiliate marketers to promote their products for them. So eventually, you’ll earn true passive income from your digital product sales. As a creator, you can set the affiliate commission percentage.

Slideshare

One interesting way to promote your digital products is to use Slideshare. Create some valuable visual content and post it with the link to your digital product. People often miss the opportunity to promote their products or content on Slideshare, but it’s an excellent platform for educational content. So if you’re not on there, give it a try!

YouTube

I can’t rave about YouTube enough! Wow! You don’t have to be a viral video creator to make sales on YouTube. Just create some very valuable content that teaches your audience, and eventually you’ll start getting sales on autopilot. Trust me!

Ideas for Gumroad digital products

By Nubelson Fernandes on Unsplash

1. "AI Prompt Packs" for Niche Use Cases

What: Curated sets of optimized AI prompts tailored for specific tasks (e.g., therapists, real estate agents, indie game devs).

Why: With tools like ChatGPT becoming mainstream, professionals are seeking ready-to-use, effective prompts. Many generic packs exist, but niche-focused ones are rare.

Bonus: Offer updates or expansions as a subscription.

2. Customizable Notion Workspaces for Unusual Jobs

What: Prebuilt Notion templates for lesser-served roles (e.g., dog trainers, tattoo artists, food truck operators).

Why: Most Notion templates cater to tech or creators. There's demand from “offline” professions adapting digital tools.

Angle: Include videos showing how to use the template effectively.

3. Micro-Study Guides for Obscure Certifications

What: Concise study materials (flashcards, cheat sheets, mock exams) for niche or regional certifications (e.g., home inspector licenses in small U.S. states).

Why: These are low-competition niches with dedicated audiences.

Extra: Offer a free quiz to draw leads.

4. Background Sound Packs for Online Teachers

What: Downloadable ambient sound packs (e.g., nature, café, library, classroom vibes) for virtual educators to improve student engagement.

Why: Online teachers often want to create a better digital classroom atmosphere.

Bundle idea: Combine with Zoom backgrounds or class timers.

5. Minimalist Print-Ready Planners for Neurodivergent Adults

What: ADHD/autism-friendly digital planner PDFs focusing on simplicity, low sensory stimulation, and flexible structure.

Why: Many digital planners are too cluttered or rigid for neurodivergent users.

Tip: Use muted colors, minimal layouts, and optional daily/weekly formats.
