RM “Indigo” album review.

This made me feel all kinds of emotions.

By Cindy🎀Published about a year ago 3 min read

So, Indigo is one of those albums that hits you in all the right places. RM didn’t just drop music—he dropped a vibe for every mood. Here is my breakdown of how each track made me feel:

1. Yun (feat. Erykah Badu)

This song felt like a deep exhale. Erykah’s voice? *Chef’s kiss.* It’s like a guided meditation for your soul, telling you to chill out and just live without getting too lost in your head. It’s is giving me early 2000s vibe and I LOVE that.

I love fun songs but I’m an emotional girl so I’m always going to be bias when it comes to songs that make me FEEL. This song was a great album opener, made me look forward to hearing more.

Definitely a "sit in your feelings" kind of song.

2. Still Life (feat. Anderson .Paak)

This one gave me that instant mood lift.It feels like driving with the windows down during golden hour., driving nowhere in particular. Anderson’s vibe is infectious,I loved how he used "still life" as a metaphor—like we’re all just here, living, but sometimes it feels like we’re stuck in one place. Yet, RM reminds us: even if we’re standing still, we’re moving forward. Inspirational but also a bop.

3. All Day (feat. Tablo)

The energy on this track is like a pep talk from that cool older friend who’s been through it. Tablo and RM together? Fire. It had me feeling hyped, like I could take on the world—or at least finish that essay I’ve been postponing.Definitely a power anthem when you’re feeling drained but need that push.

4. Forg_tful (with Kim Sawol)

I actually thought this was a love song before translating the lyrics lol.

But seriously, this song was too relatable. Like, I’m always forgetting stuff—my keys, why I walked into a room. But beyond that, this song has that dreamy, wandering energy, like it’s okay to be a little lost. Kim Sawol’s voice is soft and comforting, like a hug when you’re spiraling. Made me feel like it’s okay to be imperfect.

5. Closer (feat. Paul Blanco, Mahalia)

A hit!

The second this song started, I was in my feels. It’s giving thinking about someone you shouldn’t be thinking about, but you can’t help it. Mahalia’s vocals hit hard, and RM’s verses? Whew. It’s that bittersweet, "I’m so close but so far" feeling. Definitely playing this when I need to wallow in my emotions (but in the best way).

6. Change pt.2

This one came out of nowhere—short, intense, and raw. It’s like when you realize you’ve outgrown something or someone, but you’re still processing what that means. RM sounds a little fed up, tbh, and I felt that. Sometimes change is necessary, but it’s also kinda painful. Gave me major "I need to cut toxic things out of my life" energy.

7. Lonely

My favorite.

It’s upbeat but sad at the same time—like dancing in your room but also feeling that existential dread slowly creeping in. RM really tapped into that modern loneliness we all know too well.

8. Hectic (feat. Colde)

This track hit me in that “everything is happening all at once and I can’t keep up” way. It’s the perfect background for those days when life is moving too fast and you’re trying to stay grounded. Colde’s feature was mellow, and it felt like the soundtrack to my chaotic brain trying to chill for a sec. Big city vibes, but from a place of introspection.

9. Wild Flower (with youjeen)

This song felt like a breath of fresh air. The buildup is insane, and when youjeen’s vocals hit, it’s straight goosebumps. It had me thinking about my own goals and how they can sometimes feel suffocating, even when I’m crushing it.

10. No.2 (feat. Park Ji Yoon)

*No regrets, no regrets*—the motto I didn’t know I needed. This track feels like closure. Park Ji Yoon’s voice is calming, like a soft goodbye to all the things that have weighed you down. It gave me that post-cry feeling, like you’re lighter and ready to move on. Definitely a song for wrapping up a chapter in your life.

Final Thoughts:

Listening to Indigo feels like reading RM’s journal, but it’s also our journal too. Every song taps into some part of being young, confused, overwhelmed, but also hopeful. The whole album made me feel like it’s okay to not have everything figured out—as long as you’re still growing, still moving. Indigo is for those quiet moments when life feels too loud, and you just need to hear someone say, “Yeah, I get it.”

We might be in the era of TikTok bops, but Indigo gives us something deeper to chew on. It’s the kind of album that sits with you, makes you reflect, and leaves you feeling both seen and heard.
