Being a permanent employee comes with a lot of benefits. Their advantages range from a continuous paycheck up to several perks such as health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave, and so much more. Although those benefits may differ from company to company, here are a few advantages that are always the same for every company.
Secured financial capability
When you know you have a regular paycheck coming in, major plans such as investing in a house, or a car is possible. You will also be able to sustain your needs and lifestyle by properly allocating your expected cash every month. While in contract or another temporary employment status, your expenses would not have the guarantee of being paid.
Job security
Who would not want the security of having a permanent job with a guaranteed paycheck every month? I bet none. Surely, everyone wants the financial power and stability that comes with the job. Bills and other payables, as well as the living necessities, will be paid without worrying about where to get the money. The security of having a permanent job is far better than getting a lot of different jobs.
Cons of permanent employment
While the advantages of permanent employment are very much obvious, there will always be disadvantages on the other side. Here are some of it.
Less freedom to decide own schedule
For people who are not very fond of following a routine, being cooped up in a scheduled workplace is one of the most suffocating reasons why they'd rather choose a temporary job. For them, schedules are something that restricts them to take breaks of their own volition. In the end, it still depends on the person and their preference.
Limited scope of work
For those who want to keep on exploring other fields, experiencing other jobs, and gaining more knowledge and skills, permanent employment is quite restraining. And that is something that freelancers and other contractual workers do not want to have. So, it is not entirely a disadvantage for them because it is their choice.
No matter if it's a temporary or a permanent job, having any of those is already a great achievement for this pandemic makes getting a job harder for everyone else.
