I’ve been posting content on YouTube for years, it’s been a decade now since I first posted a video on YouTube and I don’t regret it. I’ve made thousands on there and it’s not stopping anytime soon.

Recently, small creators have blown up on the platform and top earners such as Dough Dash and Dontay London have earned more than their usual monthly salary by creating a specific type of content.

They’re calling it:

“YouTube on easy mode,” and some people are annoyed by the fact that these creators are claiming that making money on YouTube is easy, when in fact, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to build a successful YouTube channel.

Here’s what I have to say about this topic:

There are certain types of content that are much easier to make, that’s a fact. For example, “study with me” or “work with me” content. These videos are pretty easy to make because you just film what you’re already doing. You don’t have to do any fancy editing, and you can use your phone. No camera skills needed, and people love watching these videos as they’re often looped for hours while people work on their laptops.

So, with this type of content, it’s much easier to get the required 4000 hours of watch time and 1000 subscribers.

That being said, this is not the type of content I’m focusing on for this article. Here, I want to discuss the most popular “easy mode” content and it’s a very specific type of content where creators vlog their lives, and teach people how to build successful YouTube channels at the same time.

For example, Dontay London posts daily videos where he provides YouTube tips and motivation and encouragement for new creators.

Dough Dash is another creator who went from working 12 hour days as a food delivery driver to working full time on YouTube. Her last paycheck from YouTube was more than $9000, which is more than she was making as a full-time Door Dasher.

Dough Dash’s channel went from 3000 subscribers to more than 40k subscribers in a few weeks after she posted several videos about her life as a Door Dasher, then she went on to reveal her YouTube earnings and how YouTube is making it easier for small creators to make money on the platform.

Some other creators are not so impressed with this new “easy mode” content because they think it’s misleading people.

What do I think?

I think that it’s great to see small creators finding success on the platform, however, it’s important to note that most creators post for years before they see any kind of success on YouTube. It’s not easy as it looks however, it’s possible to vlog your life and build a decent income without having to use fancy cameras or special editing skills.

Having said that, I don’t think it’s a good idea to quit your job to go full-time on YouTube, but if you do want to quit your job to become a full-time content creator, you’d better create a website and build a newsletter, plus build a real business around your YouTube content. I’d also suggest posting on other platforms as well, not just YouTube.

I’d suggest:

  • YouTube
  • Instagram
  • Medium
  • Vocal
  • Your own blog
  • Newsletter

I’ve built several income streams from content platforms and honestly, It’s a great life. Working from home or wherever you place your laptop however, it’s scary at times because you can go from being a viral sensation to a nobody overnight.

That’s why I’m a big fan of faceless content because you get to build several pages based on different interests, and if one fails, you can still build more income streams from your other pages. Also, with faceless content, you can outsource the whole process later on down the line, meaning you don’t have to rely on your presence and input to make money.

With a personal brand, although it’s more personal, it's a whole lot of work, and when you stop producing content, your business will eventually collapse. However, with faceless, you can take yourself out of the equation pretty quickly.

I’ve built several faceless YouTube channels, and honestly, one of the best ways to make money as a faceless YouTuber is to create content about YouTube itself. Study the platform and learn how to build profitable channels, and create content about that. Creating platform specific content is the easiest way to build an audience on YouTube, trust me. I’ve done it before, and I’ll do it again on other platforms.

Here are some ideas for platform-specific content:

  • How to get 4000 hours of watch time on YouTube fast
  • How to get 1000 subscribers in a month or less
  • 5 of the Best Affiliate Marketing YouTubers to Watch Right Now
  • Earn $5000 a Month on YouTube With This Type of Content

You get the picture right?

To conclude:

Easy mode content is really powerful at the moment, and people are getting monetized quickly with this type of content however, I do think it’s a bubble that will eventually burst. Therefore, it’s best to create multiple channels and build several income streams from your YouTube content instead of relying on specific type of content at this time.
