I came across Vocal.media through an Instagram ad where there is a promise of making money involved, so here I am. Who is not interested in writing for making some money?
As I scroll through the content categories, I realize that this whole site is less of creative space and more of a journalistic style writing. Everyone had something to share, but it is more for educational or teaching purposes.
None of the categories fit the things I write or share about, so “getting people to read your stories” speaks less to me.
Will that stop me from joining this community and probably creating something different? Hell no! This makes me want to write here more.
Relatable Topics
The exploration of vocal topics that were available includes:
- Cultures
- Arts + Entertainment
- Food + Drinks
- Health + Wellness
- Home + Travel
- Business + Education
- News + Politics
- Love + Relationships
- Lifestyle
- Sports
The communities available, they sub-categorized into the topics. The writing style that I can fall into would be Love + Relationship and Lifestyle. Although, I speak on these things less than ten percent that would be the only thing I can relate to.
What I really write about includes reviewing products, software, and sharing ideas to balance your work and personal life.
I also review books I read and discuss the interest concepts that were presented in the literature. Other things that I do is create a personal blog that becomes a vlog on my YouTube channel, so there is that. Along with this share, I enjoy sharing parts of the novels I am writing.
If this community is a good place for me to share these topics, I would gladly leave my Word press account and focus solely on Vocal.Media.
Let’s have a thirty-day writing challenge to compare my analytics on both this account and my Word press. Then I will have a better idea of where my future stands with both communities.
What to Expect
I know what I will use this website for, as opposed to my business websites where I talk about polishing your digital image, create an online presence, and ways to make supplemental income.
On my website, I was also writing personal blogs, but according to my analytics, it shows that no one really enjoys reading someone’s personal experience anymore.
More of that theory in another post so will stay on track with what I have to share.
I guess I can make my profile on Vocal.Media a more exclusive blogging + Vlogging arena, where I will share all my work in one spot. This will include photo stories and such. After 24 hours of looking around the communities, I realize that everyone has a creative way of expressing themselves. Then there are some that can be too journalistic. Something that I avoid reading about unless there is a disclaimer it is just an opinion.
Most people believe that when they are publishing an article online, it has to be professional and newsworthy. In my eyes, I would prefer reading something on a more personal level, if that makes any sense.
My only advice is to be yourself but express your words. They use misinterpretation daily and is doing more harm for writers than you’d want to believe. You can talk about a red apple and someone who just had an unpleasant encounter with a red apple might interpret your red apple statement to be a mockery of their day.
You don’t want that reader back and you also do not want to apologize for what you just wrote about that red apple, but a screen shot will kill you in cancel culture.
To Get An Idea
I will share some of my old writings on here to test out how this website works. I am always interested in new products and love introducing it to my broader audience. This will be a fun project if you ask me.
Until then, this ends my first day. My introduction.
