Julianna Byrd: An Anthology of Poetry
"I write because the world could use a little hope."

Some writers have the ability to unwrap the details of the world, revealing its essence in exquisite and simple truths.
Julianna Byrd has this ability.
Known mostly for her poetry, Julianna's work is humble, sincere and steeped in melancholic introspection. As her author's profile describes, her motivation to bring hope to the world rings true in every thought-provoking word of her work.
Over the last 12 months, she has started to make a name for herself as one of Vocal's top creators, her name appearing with growing frequency on the Vocal Top Story lists. Watching Julianna grow as a writer has been inspirational for many people. Here at VCC, we are amongst the inspired, and felt we simply had to put together a curated showpiece of some of her work.
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
Love, The VCC Team Xx

The Unashamedly Unique
This first poem captures the aspiration to be idiosyncratically authentic. The small joys found in odd socks and inappropriately cuffed trousers are celebrated in a joyous and eloquent homage to the human condition's under-appreciated penchant for consistent quirks of character.
Behind my "Fine"
With this piece Julianna captures the juxtaposition of going through the motions of life whilst in the throes of existential angst. The revelatory agent being the Note App on her phone.
The Silent War
To be in emotional pain and to go unseen is one of the most desperate places for the human psyche to dwell. In this work of empathy, Julianna extends a hand to anyone who has ever gone through their own silent, unrecognised, war.
An Analogy for Anxiety
This is a recent top story that reflects on therapeutic guidance to view anxiety as an object that can be looked at, touched, and viewed. Julianna uses a beach ball to explore this guidance drawing poignant, reflective, and relatable conclusions.
Everybody's Everything
Here, Julianna artfully describes being torn and diminished by good intentions and the empowerment that comes with realising that you do not have to be all things to all people.
