Inviting You To Join The Vocal Progressive Group For Writers And Readers
By: Jason Morton

First of all, I want to say that I didn't have anything against any of the other groups that were already active on Facebook. They are filled with some great people and stocked full of talented writers and creators. So, if you see it on Facebook and questioned why anyone would create another when there are already so many, you're not alone. Honestly, I really questioned whether or not another group would go over with the writers and Facebook users. Then I looked at other groups and realized two things-stop asking questions that don't need answering and I might have ideas that some people like.
“You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time."
John Lydgate
As true as this might be, eventually you can get to everyone if you give yourself time. So, my idea was to do another group that might appeal to people. What am I going to do any differently than anyone else? Great question? One in which I'm still working out and the end of the first week.
First of all, this is a great time to thank everybody who joined up with me on this journey into a new group. Hum, maybe we should get a patch... LOL
Let me introduce you to The O.G.'s
Brad Foster, Zani Ali, Kate Ronan, Susie Patterson, Wendy Albert, Aubree Kelso, Rasha Roshdy, Brittany Vadnais, Nick Cavuoti, Mariam Naeem, Ana Marie Radulescu, Aliberry SP, Pam Reeder, Jeff Higgins, DM Takeshi, Chloe Longstreet, Amanda Colleen, Robyn Reisch, Naomi Burns, Trevor Campbell, Trevor Wells, Morton Jerry (My Little Bro), Em Keeler, W.H. Michael, Elissa Dawson, DK Perlmutter, JD Ruffin, Niki Patino, Magdalena Latkowska, Cindy Jo, Angela Derscha, Maderazo Ford, Julianne McKenna, Jason Basarba, Justin Haywood, Babs Iverson, Arpad T. Nagy, Catherine Donnelly, Julie Wehmeyer, Kelli Sheckler-Amsden, Dyllon Rodillon, Lisa Gerard Braun, Lesley Anne, Paula Shablo, Julie Smith, Melissa Ingoldsby, Rahman Moshiur, Brenda Kage, Judey Kalchik, Tom Bradbury, and Courtney Capone.
You were the first to jump on board with me. The first ones to without hesitation, follow me down the rabbit hole. So far, a small handful of these fine folks are just readers. Which is something that I hope to build up over time. A following of readers as devoted to this as all of us that spend the hours stuck at a keyboard. That's mission number one and considering we haven't seen a weekend yet when most people get on Facebook, I'm pretty optimistic about chasing this goal down.
One of the second things that I think is important is that everybody gets a chance to be recognized for their work. Different threads are great but promoting "our" writers is as important as getting reads ourselves. Does anyone disagree? Hush! Just kidding, but I seriously think that the regular promotions and introductions of our writers on the page will give every one of us a chance to appreciate what the others are doing. So, it's my hope that people take just a few minutes to open those links and pick a story. I did with Paula Shablo and when I saw her story The Calling, it enticed me to open it up. A picture of a flooded swamp and the beginning of her paragraph "Lester never intended to come back to this place, and certainly he'd never considered bringing his daughter..." made me want to check it out. Already, considering this is my first Facebook group, I feel pretty damn good about the quality of content I'll get to see on the page.
Everybody that writes does it for a reason. Whether it's money, fame, self-therapy, or you're like me and really want to find out what you can do with writing because it's a fun hobby to tell stories, this project will include regular promotions of all members. So watch for your fellow members and enjoy the surprise when it's your turn.
Threads and posts. Threads are great, who doesn't love threads? Yes, I'm being serious. Maybe my approach will be a little different or my imagination will liven them up. They can be fun and I'm constantly on the lookout for a way to make them as enjoyable as I can. I think that with a little time I'll get this down to an art form.
It's only been three days but it's off to a good start, and Rome wasn't built in a day so I have to give myself a break. 4:00 A.M. was a long time ago. Give this new group a look and help us grow the numbers. In time I hope to make this a group that booms and helps all its' members achieve their goals of getting noticed, getting their message out, getting feedback, and being appreciated for their writing. Thanks for reading.

Writing has become more important as I live with cancer. It's a therapy, it's an escape, and it's a way to do something lasting that hopefully leaves an impression.
