I made £680 in 10 days on Gumroad with a new page

I recently embarked on a Gumroad digital product challenge. The goal is to start earning $5000 a month in 60 days.

I have to admit, I’ve been slacking on the challenge however, I’ve still earned £680 in my first 11 days on the platform and I just received my first payout. Wild!

Here’s how I’m building a $5000 a month Gumroad business:

💡Before we start, I’ve just released my Gumroad Blueprint e-guide to help anyone who’d like to start building on Gumroad too.

Long form articles:

For this, I’m focusing on creating long form articles for Vocal and Medium (I’ve started a new Medium page for this). I’m also posting long form pieces on X.

By long form, I mean 1000 words and above. I’m posting “how to” and “why to” evergreen content only for this. For example:

💡“How to build 5-figure online business as a busy mom”

💡“How to make more money on Vocal Media without burning out”

💡“How to use Pinterest to drive more traffic to your blog posts”

💡“Why Gumroad is the best platform to sell your digital products in 2025.”

I post articles daily on Vocal Media and Medium. I’m also using the blogging feature on Gumroad to post long form pieces too. Blogging on Gumroad will drive traffic to your Gumroad store over time. I do the same thing on Payhip.

Marketing my articles

To market my articles I share them on:

  • Many stories
  • Flipboard
  • Pinterest
  • Many Stories

I submit my articles to Many Stories, a curated platform that showcases high-quality content across various niches. By ensuring my pieces are well-written, insightful, and valuable, they’re often featured, which helps bring in a steady flow of new readers. This curated exposure allows my content to reach audiences beyond my usual circles and contributes to long-term traffic growth.

Flipboard

Flipboard allows me to package and share my content in a magazine-style format that’s visually engaging. I create themed magazines—like “Digital Business,” “Passive Income,” or “Marketing Tips”—where I include my own articles alongside related content. This positions me as a resource hub for readers interested in those topics, and Flipboard’s built-in audience helps drive qualified traffic back to my articles.

Pinterest

Pinterest plays a major role in my marketing strategy. I design compelling, keyword-optimized pins for each article and link them directly back to the full post.

Because Pinterest functions like a search engine, my content continues to attract readers months after publishing. In addition to promoting my articles, I also use Pinterest to directly promote my digital products—like e-guides, templates, and digital downloads. I create pins specifically for these offers and link them straight to my product pages, ensuring consistent visibility and sales over time.

Additional marketing channels:

YouTube community section

Most people don’t use the YouTube community section enough. It’s a powerful marketing channel, and I’ve used it over the years to create long form written pieces, infographics, and to share my YouTube videos. To promote my digital products, I post one long form piece and link my product as a call to action at the end, I do this daily.

I also spend time engaging with other people’s YouTube community posts and videos.

Commenting on articles and Pinterest posts

I spend at least an hour a day commenting on Medium articles, Vocal articles, YouTube videos, and Pinterest posts. This drives traffic to my content, which eventually leads to more sales.

Long form YouTube videos

I post one ten minute video each day on YouTube. I do this by batch creating on a Thursday, editing in bulk on a Friday, and scheduling them all out for the following week. I post five days a week. All my videos are evergreen tutorials. Of course, I place all digital product links in the description box.

X

Honestly, I’m not a fan of X, but I’m experimenting with it at the moment. I’ve received so much traffic from X on Payhip page but only two sales from there so far after posting more than 1k tweets and engaging constantly. Is it worth it? I’m not sure yet, I’ll keep going to see how it goes. I post at least 3 tweets a day at the moment, and I engage when I can.

Later on in the challenge, I plan to pay for Instagram shoutouts, these have always worked really well for me in the past.

I’ll also give Reddit a try. I’ve heard so many stories the effectiveness of Reddit as a marketing channel however, I haven’t tried this method yet.

Gumroad is user-friendly platform, and I highly recommend it for beginners who want to start selling digital products. Aside from the information I’ve provided here, I a few other tips and methods that are highly effective for building a profitable business on Gumroad and any other platform.
