I'm Fired

Because I'm Done With All This Fuckery

To the Powers That Be (For Now)

I’m out. I’m firing myself. I’m saving you the trouble of kicking me out. Isn’t that considerate of me? But that’s who I am. Considerate. And that’s why I’m firing myself. Because I give a shit.

Correction, I give a shit about things that matter. Not just about profits and likes.

I see you for who you really are. Bigwig businessmen (or women or them, I wouldn’t want to come across as sexist) and phony politicians who only think about gains and popularity polls. The stock markets, arms deals and manufactured wars, fossil fuel pipelines, and ego-driven politics.

I fucking see you. We fucking see you. All of you. Even while you hide in your suits and luxury penthouses.

Because you know what? We have been watching, and we have had enough. Not just me. Not just a handful, but the great, so-far-silent masses.

You prefer us to be obedient. Tired, divided, and distracted. You sow discord to prevent us from focusing on the actual issue: you.

We, the nurses, carers, teachers, cleaners, firefighters, volunteers, and the like. The people who believe in community, while you believe in privatisation. We believe in helping each other, while you only believe in helping yourself.

You have tried, and to some degree succeeded, in creating a numbnut culture. Where people can identify as llamas and useful idiots get their education from TikTok and Instagram, and side with terrorists.

Until now, you have got away with it. But we, the ones still capable of independent thinking, can no longer let you destroy everything we hold dear. We will no longer allow you to steal our culture and identity and sell it for a song.

So let me be one of the many to hand in my resignation. From now on, I will no longer participate in your bullshit charade and pretend that everything is oh, so well, when really it is oh, so shit.

For too long, you have got away with your insane policies and two-tier policing. You have tried to a) bore b) scare us into submission. But guess what? You have gone too far, and the country is at boiling point.

We have been playing by the rules for far too long. Ticked the boxes and watched as someone less capable got the job because the decision makers valued DEI more than skills and experience.

What have we got in return? Anxiety. Exhaustion. Houses we can’t afford and hotels full of illegal migrants. People getting arrested in the middle of the night because of a tweet they wrote in defense of their country and culture while others go free after vandalising memorials and tearing up the Union Jack.

But enough of this fuckery.

We have had enough of being lied to. Of being treated like we were all numbnuts.

We are speaking up and try as you might, you cannot silence every one of us. We are rising and there's nothing you can do about it. It would be as pointless as trying to stop a tidal wave.

If you find that threatening. Good. Although we don’t come with threats of violence. We will be armed with knowledge.

Because we are the ones who read books rather than headlines. We are the ones who speak the truth, the ones who raise their children to question everything and find out the facts for themselves. The ones who teach their children to look at both sides of the argument, not only at the one that shouts the loudest. The ones who teach their children respect and manners.

But we are also the ones who fear for our children’s future unless we step in. Because, let’s be honest here, all you have achieved is to get us all into deep shit.

You have underfunded schools and hospitals, made a mockery of our justice system, and turned the media into a mouthpiece of bias and lies. You have created a cancel culture, shutting down anyone with a differing opinion. For daring to disagree, we are labeled hateful, racist, and phobic.

But we are none of those things.

It is not racist to want to feel safe in our homes, our streets, our schools, and places of worship. It is not phobic to want to keep our children safe from those who do not share the same laws and principles. It is not hateful to want to know who we are letting into the country.

It is not intolerance or racism to ask that we look after our own people first. So that the elderly do not have to go without heating or children without breakfast or dinner. Something is so clearly wrong in a country where pensioners have to choose between medication and food and the only decent meal some children get is at school.

For far too long, we have waited for things to get better. But alas, they have gone from bad to worse to disastrous.

But you never intended things to get better, did you? Of course you fucking didn’t because it is easier to control a population that it is divided and distracted.

In the process, we have become a country where criminals walk free while tweeters are put behind bars. We have become a country where shops have to keep their meet behind locked doors. A country where teens film themselves entering the houses of strangers while the police are too busy investigating an incident where two children said their classmate smelled like fish as a hate crime.

It is heartbreaking to see what you have done to this once wonderful country.

But your time is up.

Surely your noses are not so far up your own arses that you haven’t noticed how much the mood of the country has changed.

You have worked so hard to make us ashamed of who we are. You have tried to shame us for being proud of our values, our heritage, our flag. You have tried to make us believe that nationalism is toxic and patriotism dangerous.

But the truth is that it is not those who love their country who are a threat. The threat comes from those who hate it and are hellbent dismantling from within.

We cannot allow it, so we are taking our country back. We will not do it by force, but through ballot boxes. We will not let you erase everything that made this country worth fighting for.

We are resigning from your politically correct, as-long-as-you-agree-with-us society. The days of your phony woke values are over. Instead, we are bringing back good old school values of looking after your family, friends, and community. Values built on people working together not against each other.

We are recreating a society where people look out for one another, not because they have to, not because it makes great content for an Insta reel, but because they want to. Because they know that by looking out for each other, we create a happier, more truly equal society.

So allow me to reiterate. I’m resigning, firing myself before you have the chance to. And you don’t have to worry about me. Not that you would anyway, since we have already established is that all you worry about is yourself and the pound notes.

I already have a new employer. It is called the people.

(Not so) respectfully yours,

Someone who is still capable of independent thoughts

I hear you. It's frustrating seeing those in power focused only on profits and popularity. We, the everyday workers, are the ones who actually care about making a difference. It's time we stood up and said enough. How can we start organizing more effectively to make our voices heard against these unfair policies? I'm with you on not tolerating their bullshit anymore. We've let them get away with too much for too long. It's time to take back control of our communities and values. What specific actions do you think we should take first to show them we mean business?
