Do you think it's right to be referred to as a hustler?

You must have heard of the American Dream.

-Get a job

-Find a woman/man

-Marry her/him

-Have kids

-Buy a house

-Live happily ever after

-Keep a job for 30-40 years and then retire.

If you do all these, you will have fulfilled the American Dream and will most likely be very happy.

Unfortunately, we have those who don't follow this rule, so to say. The world has heard about them: the miserable kids who grew up on the streets, became involved in illegal activities, and are now serving time in prison.

But there is another side to many of these stories. Some of them did not grow up on the streets, but lost their parents at a young age and were forced to fend for themselves. They might have been working two jobs just to make ends meet and still managed to graduate from high school. They could have been offered a big job opportunity after college only to realize that they would earn more money indulging in some activities that most often than not are illegal, rather than working 9-to-5. They could have started off as a small-time dealer, but after a while they upgraded their lifestyles and became accustomed to a certain way of living. Now they're doing minimum security time because they got caught.

These people are called hustlers, because they do whatever is necessary to survive and get ahead in life. But say no to illegal activities! Say no to all vices!

Here is how Anita told her story;

"At a young age, I lost my parents in a car accident. I had to learn to fend for myself, and I spent much of my childhood in foster care. Before I was emancipated, I managed to save enough money to pay for college out of pocket. I graduated with a degree in computer science and got my first job right out of college.

The job paid well and the work was interesting. I lived a comfortable life and everything seemed to be going well until one day, when the company offered me a promotion that required me to relocate several states away. My life was suddenly uprooted and I spent several months struggling to adjust to this new environment. Right there everything came crumbling. I eventually found the strength to rise above the challenges.

You know why? That's because I'm a Hustler!"

Anita's story really resonated with me because I was just a young kid as well, when my parents died. I have been cared for by my grandpa since then. My grandpa is old and sick but he tried his best to take care of me. He taught me how to ride a bike, play soccer and how to be a good person.

I did not want to become burden on him so I started working at the age of 14. At that time I was too young to get a job but I got a part-time job at McDonalds. It seemed like such an easy job at first but it wasn't. It was hard work and it required me to wake up early in the morning to go to school and then go to work after school.

I gave it my best while growing through it.

I think this experience made me grow up to become a really nice person.

I like to help people. I like to make them smile. I always try to find the best in people. I believe everyone has something great about them.

I used to be a shy person, no doubt, but at some point I thought that if I was nice enough, people might like me.

But that didn't work out as well as I expected it to. So, I decided to change my life around and become someone who is confident and successful. The ability to change and adapt when need be, is as a result of my hustler nature.

So cheers to all the hustlers out there!🥂
