How to Spend an Unforgettable Week in Dubai

7 days, endless memories

By Jeewanthi ArmstrongPublished 2 months ago 3 min read

If you are a traveller looking to be spoiled by one of the best places in all of the United Arab Emirates, look no further than Dubai. This place is known for its many skyscrapers, including the tallest in the world, as well as luxurious experiences and shopping wherever you look. In one week, you can explore the golden deserts, gleaming skyscrapers, historic souks and calm beaches. To enjoy this balance of exploration and relaxation, choosing one of the hotels in Dubai Palm as a base makes all the difference. Here is how to spend a week discovering the best of Dubai, filled with fun, adventure and everything in between.

Day 1: Arrival and a Gentle Introduction

After arriving at Dubai International Airport, take a taxi or arrange a transfer to Palm Jumeirah, which happens to be the palm-shaped island that Dubai is famous for. Check in at NH Collection Dubai the Palm, a hotel known for its breathtaking views, infinity pool as well as relaxed atmosphere. Spend your first evening on Palm West Beach, a walkway full of restaurants and uninterrupted views of the Dubai skyline. The area is peaceful, especially at sunset, before the night energy takes over.

Day 2: Exploring Old Dubai

Begin your second day by travelling to the Dubai Creek area, where it is famously believed that the city’s story began. Old Dubai is one of the best places to appreciate Emirati heritage, and this is where you can walk through the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, also known as Bastakiya.  Cross the creek on an abra, which is a small wooden boat that costs only one dirham per ride. It is quite a simple experience but a memorable one, as you glide past other boats that are trading goods and watch the old mixing with the new.

Day 3: Modern Marvels and City Icons

No trip to Dubai is complete without visiting the Burj Khalifa, which is also the tallest building in the world. Make sure to start off as early as possible, which will help to get ahead of queues and enjoy breathtaking scenes in peace. Nearby, the Dubai Mall is not only for shopping but also home to the Dubai Aquarium, an ice rink, and a number of great dining options.

Day 4: Desert Adventures and Arabian Nights

A desert safari is something every visitor to Dubai should experience, whether you're looking for adventure or to connect with its culture. The afternoon usually begins with your tour guide picking you up from the hotel and heading straight into the desert dunes for some fun, with dune bashing, camel rides and even a bit of sandboarding if you’re up for it. You can enjoy a barbecue dinner, live music and a sneak peek of real Bedouin hospitality. The Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve is one of the best-preserved ecosystems in the region, and many safaris already take visitors to observe it as a way to promote sustainability.

Day 5: A Day on the Palm

After the amazing desert adventure, use the next day to slow things down with some peaceful activities. Palm Jumeirah is a great place to explore throughout your fifth day in Dubai, because it is worth the visit. You can also take the Palm Monorail from the trunk to the Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark at the crescent of the island. It is one of the most exciting water parks in the world and is suitable for all ages.

Day 6–7: Dubai Marina, JBR and Farewell Moments

As your trip comes to an end, spend the final days soaking up Dubai’s beachy areas. Begin at Dubai Marina, which is quite an active area full of eateries and yachts all across the waters. Take a relaxed walk along the Marina Walk or join a short boat tour for a fresh perspective of the city’s skyline. If time allows, visit Souk Madinat Jumeirah, which is designed in the style of a traditional Arabian market, but with a few modern touches. On your final morning, take a peaceful walk along Palm West Beach or simply sit by the water and reflect on the week that’s passed.
