Rainy days are almost no fun. However, if you are vacationing in Singapore, you will realise that there are still plenty of delightful and immersive activities you can find to experience the culture and heritage of the city. You just need to research a bit and seek out which activities to pick. Here is a guide for you to compile an itinerary on how to make the most of your holiday there, even in the wet season.

Rainy season in the city

The Northeast monsoon brings showers, especially in the afternoon. This period occurs from November to January. December is generally the wettest month there. You can experience high humidity levels and thunderstorms, too, but these come in short bursts and generally do not disturb holidaymakers who visit the destination during this span. Many travellers head to Singapore during this time as it is the festive season, and the city usually mirrors this fact by donning vibrant colours and seasonal cheer. Therefore, you can be sure to find a variety of attractions and activities open to travellers of all tastes and budgets.

Go museum hopping

If you are a history junkie, then this will be a great opportunity to explore Singapore’s past in the form of museums. There are quite a number that you can pick from: The National Museum of Singapore, the Peranakan Museum and the ArtScience Museum. You get immersive exhibits, engaging displays and iconic artefacts at each of these sites. So you can delve into the country’s historic past and update your knowledge.

The National Museum of Singapore is known as the nation’s oldest museum and is a cultural landmark in the city. It is a place which is a must-visit for anyone who is interested in the country’s heritage.

Explore Gardens by the Bay

One of the top things to do in Singapore on many travellers’ lists is a visit to the Gardens by the Bay. This is an unmissable destination which you should visit, especially if you love nature. Futuristic architecture and enthralling plant displays are the key attractions there. These include the celebrated Supertrees, Cloud Forest, and Flower Dome.

The Garden Rhapsody is another attraction you might wish to keep an eye out for. It is truly a magical sight to see the Supertrees bathed in nightly lights with enchanting music playing in the background. You and your children can learn many things about horticulture at this site.

Indulge in a shopping spree

If you have an umbrella and are fine with exploring the city in short bursts of rain, you can engage in some memorable shopping experiences during your stay in Singapore. For luxury and high-street fashion, visit Orchard Road, but if you have affordable shopping in mind, head for Little India or Chinatown. So you can spend lots of time there exploring the designer brands at the modern malls and high-end restaurants at Orchard Street, or cost-effective souvenirs, jewellery, household items and more at Little India or Chinatown.

All of these places offer mouthwatering local food as well for you to sample at various prices. You can also visit places like Emerald Hill, which encompasses modern architectural features and historical charm near Orchard Road or the vibrant Indian temples and the ancient Chinese shop houses of Little India and Chinatown. For guests staying at a property like Hotel Boss, all three destinations are close at hand. Therefore, even if it rains, they will face no difficulties engaging in their shopping excursions as they can get back easily if the drizzles turn into downpours.

Visit S.E.A. Aquarium

Engage in an immersive underwater experience with your loved ones at S.E.A. Aquarium. This site, which is set in Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa Island, comprises more than 100,000 sea creatures from 800 diverse species. You can witness reef manta rays, giant moray eels, mammoth crabs and also endangered species like hammerhead sharks in this open ocean habitat. The educational value you will get there will be invaluable, so consider a visit there with your children, and you will feel that your rainy day indoors will be well spent.
